[Proposal]

Dongwoon wanted to change.

The idea struck to him suddenly when one day he got home sooner than usual, and found Kikwang was cooking dinner in the kitchen. His boyfriend looked surprised and lunged at him like they haven’t met for weeks while it was only few hours-ten hours and fifteen minutes to be exact. Dongwoon took a shower to kill the time, and when he’s done Kikwang still hadn’t finished yet.

So Dongwoon rested his chin on his palm and leaned on the table, examining his boyfriend-fiance-soon husband to be. His eyes traveled down to Kikwang’s ring before smiling, feeling satisfied at the sight. This beautiful male-the one who’s cooking for him right now-is gonna be his, forever, soon. The food smells delicious, Dongwoon found his stomach was grumbling. But he didn’t make a move, instead he let himself enjoyed the view in front of him. Kikwang looked so serious with his cooking, lips slightly parted as a sign he was putting all of his efforts in the cooking-and oh, how Dongwoon loved those thick, sexy lips. Kikwang tasted the meal, smiled proudly and clapped his hands. Done.

They had dinner together, and like usual, Kikwang was the one who started the conversation. He chatted happily, asking how Dongwoon was at the office, how was his project going, how was his relationship with the heir of Jung company, and so on, and so on. Dongwoon answered casually, he knew Kikwang’s just being a good boyfriend, but sometimes the questions were just around the office, it was like Dongwoon didn’t have any other life beside the company. Now that he think about it, he didn’t-other than a life with Kikwang, of course.

It was just a question, a simple question out of curiousity, but Dongwoon asked it anyway.

“What about you, baby? How was your day?”

Kikwang stopped eating and blinked. Dongwoon wondered if he asked a funny question, because Kikwang seemed to be silent for a moment. Then his boyfriend looked down to his food, still not answering his question. Dongwoon cleared his throat.

“Did you go somewhere?”

Kikwang looked up with a puzzled look. “No...I mean, if I did, I would’ve told you, right?”

Dongwoon blinked. Right? Right. He suddenly remembered that he’d be angry if Kikwang went out without his permisson. But that means...

“What did you do, then?”

“Hm?”, Kikwang looked thoughtful and brought a finger to his lips. “Just doing my usual chores. Washing the dishes, do the laundry, take out garbages, ironing clothes, watching TV...”, he smiled at Dongwoon, but it was obvious he was also confused. “What’s wrong, Woonie?”

“So you’re...basically not doing anything?”

Kikwang chuckled. “I do the houseworks for you, Woonie, and you work for us. It’s everything.”

“But...”, Dongwoon trailed off. “It’s okay for you to go out with your friends sometimes, baby.”

“I usually only go out for grocery shopping, and, uh...”, Kikwang smiled sheepishly. “You remembered few years ago when you’re already working and I was still stuck on my thesis? I think they’re my last friends...right now, uh...I only talk with Seobie sometimes on the phone but he was also busy...so...um, I kinda don’t have any friends right now. But it’s okay. I mean, I got you. And I’m-we’re happy.”

Dongwoon mentally cursed himself. Okay, so he did was possessive and overreacting and jealous and forbid his boyfriend in a lot of way, but he didn’t mean for Kikwang to stay home and didn’t have any friends-okay, so maybe he did. And okay, so maybe he was jealous to Kikwang’s friends from last year-the J-liners, Jonghyun, Jinki, and whoever else there were that started with a J letter. And also, okay, Dongwoon admitted that he was being selfish to Kikwang, he didn’t want the latter to be close with anyone else-except the DooSeob and JunSeung couple-but right now, he felt a tiny guilty feeling in his heart.

Dammit. I’m an asshole.

Dongwoon did flashback the best he could in his brain, trying to picture any of Kikwang’s anger. Not a bit. Kikwang never complained, never got angry, never said no to any of his actions. Kikwang did cry at the mention of Narsha the first time, but other than that, he never protested. If it was tiny, now the guilt was swelling so big his heart almost exploded. And why the hell did he realize this after three years and something (dammit, there he goes again, being an asshole, he couldn’t even remember)? He was being mean to Kikwang and he just realized it now? Dongwoon kept on cursing himself-

-and stopped as Kikwang suddenly touched his hand.

The smile Kikwang gave him was soothing, it was comforting, but most of all, there was no hurt or pain in his eyes. Dongwoon looked straight into those beautiful orbs and melted.

“Are you okay, Woonie?”

How could he still smile like that?

Dongwoon nodded slowly and Kikwang squeezed his hand gently.

“I love you, baby.”

With that said, Dongwoon was willing to change.

***

Kikwang received an invitation from his high school classmates. They sent it to his house, and his mother resent it back to his apartment. It was a reunion invitation. Kikwang covered his mouth in excitement when he read that it’s gonna take place in the city and not in his hometown. He was happy at the thought of meeting his old friends, but quickly disappeared at the thought of Dongwoon.

Ah... Woonie... He might forbid me to go...

Kikwang sighed and sank back to the loveseat.

But it’s a reunion... Worth a try... But didn’t you remember the time when you were just gonna go swimming? Woonie was like, a big NO. And the time when you went out with Jonghyun and the others to the mall, a vein popped in his head. Ugh...he might be angry and I don’t want him to be angry... But, maybe I should try?
However, the possibility of Dongwoon said no was bigger than the yes. So Kikwang decided to leave it alone. Afterall, he’s gonna be Dongwoon’s bride anyway, and after they’re married, he’s gonna have to listen to everything Dongwoon says, so why not start from now?

Kikwang didn’t have the courage to talk about it the slightest bit until Dongwoon found the invitation as he sat on the couch. Dongwoon read it carefully and wondered why his boyfriend didn’t talk to him about it. A scared feeling waved into Dongwoon, the image of Kikwang surrounded by a lot of people he didn’t know was killing him, but he knew he had to change.

Dongwoon didn’t want Kikwang to be an unsocialized person-hubby, in the future.

He walked to Kikwang silently in their bedroom, who was just finished changing into pyjamas. Dongwoon pulled him into an embrace from behind and kissed the back of his neck softly. Kikwang’s scent was overwhelming, and he’d give anything not to share it with anyone else. Kikwang touched his cheek and stared at him fondly. “Woonie?”

“Do you...wanna go to the reunion?”

Kikwang’s eyes widened at the question and he slowly faced Dongwoon, who wrapped his arms around Kikwang’s waist tightly. His eyes were filled with emotions, Dongwoon could see it was a mix between confusion and happiness. “Only if you allow me to.”

Fuck Son Dongwoon for not making Lee Kikwang happy.

So he nodded and said yes, and Kikwang gasped in surprise, lunging at him to hug the taller male but was quickly stopped as Dongwoon pulled away.

“Under one condition,” Dongwoon breathed. “I’ll take you there, and then when you’re done, I’ll pick you up. Understand?”

Kikwang was so happy he could only nod vigorously before pulling Dongwoon into a sweet kiss.

***

Dongwoon did take Kikwang to the reunion, but he was having a hard time letting Kikwang go. Like a small child who cling to his toy, Dongwoon kissed Kikwang desperately, leaving the latter too breathless before finally pulling away from his boyfriend’s lips. So this must be how he feels like everyday when I left for work, Dongwoon assumed as Kikwang waited patiently for the younger to stop kissing him.

“Just so when the other tries to kiss you, you’ll have my scent,” Dongwoon said and regret it immediately. Great, now he’s gonna spend the night thinking if someone really tries to kiss his Kikwang.

“I’ll tell them I’m not available,” Kikwang winked at Dongwoon. “Can I go now, Woonie?”

Dongwoon reluctantly let him go. “Don’t forget to call me when you’re done. I’ll be waiting for you, alright?”

Kikwang got off the car and smiled at his boyfriend once again before walking into the restaurant. Dongwoon sighed, thinking that his boyfriend was so damn sexually attractive. Keep in mind that he’s yours. He’s yours. He’s yours. After making sure Kikwang was inside the restaurant, he started the engine and drove away.
Inside, two males were screaming at each other.

“Lee Kikwang!!”

“Choi Minho!!”

Kikwang yelped happily as he met Minho and was jumping in excitement. “Omoo~~ Your eyes!! They’re still big just like in high school!! Frog Prince!! You’re so handsome!!”

Minho laughed as he playfully knocked his friend’s head. “You’re late! What were you doing?”

Make out with my boyfriend, Kikwang replied inwardly and grinned. “I’m sorry...where are the others?”

Minho led him to the room in the corner, with Kikwang following closely behind and as the door was opened, they were greeted by cheerful laughs. Kikwang’s face lit up suddenly at the sight of his classmates, and they stared at him momentarily before waving like crazy.

“Holy cow Kiki! You’re still pretty!”

“You don’t look like you’re getting older! What’s the secret?”

“Kwangie, the shy boy! Come here!”

Kikwang giggled happily as he sat between Seungri and Sunny. He exchanged glances and smiles with them, and started sharing stories about what happened in the past few years. Minho admitted that he’s currently dating a cutie named Lee Taemin, which earned happy shoutings from everyone. When it was finally his turn, Kikwang looked shy before saying he’s gonna get married next month. The room fell into dead silence and Kikwang blinked, did he say something wrong?

Hyuna was the first one to laugh, but it was not a mocking one. “Kiki, you’re still so young!”

“Yeah, I mean...you still look like a boy,” CL smiled at him.

“That’s mean!”, Kikwang whined and they all started laughing again. Cheundong, who was known as the quiet one ever since high school was only smiling encouragingly at him. They started talking to each other again before once again fell into silence as the door was opened-

-and a very handsome Byunghee came inside.

Kikwang’s heart skipped a beat, forgetting the fact that Byunghee might be there too in their little reunion. His smile faded and downed his drink nervously. Suddenly, Kikwang felt like going home. The others greeted the male and told him to sit, and unfortunately, the only seat that hadn’t been occupied was the one across Kikwang’s. Byunghee then sat and their eyes met.

“Kikwang,” Byunghee smiled warmly.

Kikwang could only force a smile, rising his glass before bringing it to his lips again. For the rest of the reunion, Kikwang didn’t talk much anymore, he only answered whenever a question was addressed to him. Finally it was over, some of them exchanged their phone numbers to keep in touch, because most of them were only visiting the town for the reunion. Kikwang quickly called Dongwoon to say that he’s done and headed to the bathroom.

He was about to wash his hands on the sink and surprised to see Byunghee walked out from one of the bathroom stalls. The fear was clear in Kikwang’s eyes, he tried to walk away but Byunghee grabbed his wrist quicker than he expected and was pinned to the sink. “G.O-hyung,” he whispered. A familiar name.

“Hey, Kiki. Still as beautiful as ever,” Byunghee smiled truthfully, caressing Kikwang’s cheek.

Kikwang looked away and held Byunghee’s hand to prevent it from caressing his face again. “Let go.”

Byunghee stepped back and stared at him, amused. “I still remember our days together. I hope you never forget them, too. And, since I’m only staying here for a few days, you might wanna call me-just in case you need something. I miss you, you know.”

“I have a boyfriend,” Kikwang said quietly. He knew Byunghee didn’t mean anything bad. But what happened between them was in the past, and Kikwang had moved on completely. “Don’t.”

“Doesn’t mean you love commitment, Kiki,” Byunghee clicked his tongue. “I remember your words-“

“I-we were young back then,” Kikwang raised his voice. “Now, I have a boyfriend, G.O. And he’s a possessive one.”

“He is? I want to meet him then,” Byunghee raised his brows in interest and started stepping closer.

Kikwang slapped away Byunghee’s hand and quickly walked to the door. “It was all in the past, G.O. I’m happy with Woonie now.”

***

Kikwang had been silent since Dongwoon picked him up last night. He asked him if the reunion was okay, and Kikwang nodded, flashing him a line of wonderful white teeth before going back to his expression before. But Dongwoon knew better. He then half dragged his boyfriend to change because they’re going out for lunch. It was Saturday, Dongwoon didn’t go to work and he didn’t want Kikwang to be busy in the kitchen either for the day.

So almost half an hour later, there they were at the mall, wondering around because Kikwang didn’t know what to have for lunch. Dongwoon waited patiently for his boyfriend to feel hungry and decided to look around in a book store. As he was randomly taking a book and Kikwang stared at him blankly, a voice was heard and Dongwoon slightly felt Kikwang became stiff.

“Kikwang?”

Dongwoon turned around to see a handsome male with a killer smile. He almost instinctively pulled Kikwang harshly closer, but then he reminded himself that he’s gonna change and stop being so possessive, so Dongwoon’s hand stayed still. However, he couldn’t hide the fact that he was glaring at the black haired male, who smiled at him in a good manner and bowed respectively.

“Woonie, this is...”, Kikwang cleared his throat. “Byunghee...ssi.”

Byunghee waited for Dongwoon’s response, and so did Kikwang, but Dongwoon did nothing. The tallest one among them all just bowed back at Byunghee.

“Son Dongwoon.”

“Dongwoon-ssi, ah! Heard so much about you. Nice to finally meet you in person,” Byunghee waved, still anticipating if suddenly Dongwoon became possessive around Kikwang-just like he said the day before.
Nothing happened.

Kikwang even stared at his boyfriend questioningly. Woonie?

“Kikwang and I were classmates, we finally met in the reunion last night after a long time,” Byunghee explained and Dongwoon nodded slowly. “Ne, I’m going back tomorrow, Kikwang-ah, mind if you accompany me for a while? Dongwoon-ssi can come with us too.”

Kikwang almost shook his head as he stared fearfully at his boyfriend, afraid if he’d suddenly snaps, but Dongwoon only nodded at him.

“It’s okay, Byunghee-ssi’s going back tomorrow anyway. I’m gonna leave the two of you alone. Just call me when you’re done, okay?”

Kikwang’s eyes widened in disbelief. Where the hell did my possessive boyfriend go?? Give him back!! “B-but Woonie...”

“Are you sure? It’s really okay, I really don’t mind you coming with us-“

“It’s okay. Afterall, you’re old friends,” Dongwoon smiled and ruffled Kikwang’s hair affectionately. “Take care of him, Byunghee-ssi.”

“Oh I will, don’t worry.”

For a moment, Dongwoon looked like he was about to kiss Kikwang in front of Byunghee-which the pretty boy waited hopefully, wishing that Byunghee would realize how much he meant to Dongwoon-but instead the youngest one did nothing. Dongwoon stared at Kikwang before walking away.

Kikwang was left dumb-founded. WOONIE????

“So much for a possessive boyfriend,” Byunghee frowned. “If I have a boyfriend as pretty as you, I’d be more-“

“Stop. You don’t know anything,” Kikwang growled and Byunghee didn’t bother to hide his amusement. He’s probably just being polite in front of Byunghee... BUT WAIT, HE WASN’T EVEN LIKE THAT WHEN HE DRAGGED ME AWAY FROM JONGHYUN BACK THEN!!! He sighed in frustration. What’s gotten into his boyfriend?

“Alright then. So, now that your boyfriend is away, there’s only just the two of us, and...you have to accompany me.”

Kikwang scoffed. It’s not like he has a choice.

***

Dongwoon walked around by himself, trying to get his mind off Kikwang. As much as he wanted to turn around and stalk the two of them, he didn’t. Dongwoon thought it’d be best to let Kikwang with a friend-especially a friend from his high school-to have some time together, probably didn’t have the chance to talk much from the party last night.

However, something was bothering him.

Dongwoon felt like he couldn’t change, even though for the sake of Kikwang. He felt like he couldn’t change himself to a sweet, go-ahead-do-what-you-wanna-do type of boyfriend. If he thought he was doing it for Kikwang, maybe he should think about it again. Why was it torturing him? And why the hell did he let Kikwang leave with Byunghee-just the two of them? He should’ve come along. That was like the most irrational thing Dongwoon had ever done.

It was bugging Dongwoon deeply that he finally decided to take a break and sat in one of the coffee shop. He ordered a cup of something hot-Kikwang’s favourite to be exact and glanced at his phone warily, just in case Kikwang called. Dongwoon waited, and waited, and waited until he was bored out of his mind when someone he didn’t know sat across him. He blinked.

“Kikwang’s boyfriend,” the male said. “Aren’t you?”

Dongwoon still blinked before frowning. “And you are...?”

“Cheundong. Kikwang’s classmate, too.”

“Oh,” he breathed. Cheundong looked so quiet, even quieter than him. Dongwoon didn’t know what was his intention to show up suddenly-and how did he knew Dongwoon was here? “Can I help you, Cheundong-ssi?”

Cheundong stared at him blankly before saying, “You’re so nice, letting Kikwang go with Byunghee just like that, knowing the past.”

Dongwoon snorted inwardly. “Well, they’re friends...wait, what?”

“The past.”

Something rushed into Dongwoon’s head. “What’s...the past?” He’s sure he’s not gonna like whatever Cheundong was about to say.

“Didn’t you know?”, Cheundong tilted his head to a side. ”They were dating back in high school.”

It was enough to grow back Dongwoon’s possessiveness. A moment later, Dongwoon disappeared from Cheundong’s sight. Probably to claim his princess back.

***

“What about this?”, Byunghee randomly picked up two shirts and showed them to Kikwang.

Kikwang stared at them with no interest. “Not my kinda choice.”

“I know, they won’t go perfectly with Dongwoon-ssi, right?”

He chose not to answer that.

“I know I’m right,” Byunghee smirked. “I think I’m gonna try this on...when I call, be sure to come over and comment, alright?” He then walked to the changing room and closed the door. Kikwang sighed and waited outside the room with arms crossed before hearing the click sound, a sign that the door was being unlocked. He stepped in front of the door to see Byunghee, but instead Kikwang was grabbed by the wrist quickly and pulled inside before he could make any sound.

Byunghee closed the door and sandwiched Kikwang between the wall and his own body.

Kikwang froze. “What are you doing?”, he whispered.

“Trying to win you back.”

“G.O, I have a-“

“-boyfriend, yeah yeah yeah...you told me several times already,” Byunghee rolled his eyes and caressed Kikwang’s cheek with his thumb. The latter jerked back at the touch. “But he... What if you don’t love him? What if he’s not good enough for you? Just like you did to me back in high school...”

Kikwang looked away, and Byunghee continued.

“You told me you didn’t want to have commitment, so I ended up dating half of the girls in our school... That still hurts, you know. I still can’t get over you. I mean...,” Byunghee breathed into Kikwang’s ear. “You’re still as pretty as I remembered...”

“Stop,” Kikwang whispered and tried to push Byunghee away, but it was no use. “I love Woonie, and I believe in commitment-with him, and him only. Please, G.O, let me go. Please.”

“No,” Byunghee said firmly and didn’t pull away even though Kikwang’s hands were on his chest, trying to push him. “Do you still remember your first kiss? It was me who gave you your first kiss... Maybe you should let me kiss you, and then you can decide who’s the one for you.”

“G.O-“

Byunghee decided to ignore the plead.

“Please, stop, please-“

Byunghee’s lips moved slowly closer and closer and closer and Kikwang almost gave in to the kiss-

-if it wasn’t for his phone to ring loudly, startling the two of them.

Kikwang gasped and pushed Byunghee away, this time he succeeded and covered his mouth. He was panting, his shoulders were shaking, as if Kikwang was just snapped back into reality after going through a really long coma. He mumbled something like ‘What am I doing?’ and covered his face with both of his hands. And that’s when Byunghee saw the ring. He saw a ring curled perfectly on Kikwang’s ring finger, the same identical ring he saw before on Dongwoon’s finger.

Byunghee saw Kikwang reached out to his phone.

“Woonie! I’m scared!”, Kikwang cried.

Byunghee could hear Dongwoon was asking for their location and Kikwang quickly told him before finally hanging up. The latter was still trembling, with his back glued to the wall, and Byunghee saw Kikwang’s eyes were straight into his, but it was not an accusing stare, it was a frightened one.

Kikwang was scared of him?

No. Kikwang was scared of hurting Dongwoon.

Something that he didn’t afraid to do when they were still together. Kikwang hurt Byunghee, and he didn’t seem to mind about it back then. But this...

They got out of the changing room and Kikwang sat on one of the waiting seats. Byunghee stood up in front of him with his hands fished into the pocket. “How long have you two been together?”, Byunghee finally asked when Kikwang looked calmer than before.

“Three...and eight months...going four,” Kikwang answered in a whisper.

Byunghee gaped at the answer. “Holy...almost four years? No breaking up? No separation?” Kikwang shook his head and he whistled. “He really...changed your mind about commitment, didn’t he?”

“I...I don’t know, ever since I saw him...I wanted to be with him...and it was...different with what I felt with you, G.O...”

Byunghee closed his eyes and sighed, admitting his lost. “I’m sorry, then... I’m sorry for doubting you. I’m happy that you’ve found him, Kikwang.”

“Kwangie?”

Dongwoon had arrived at the store and Kikwang threw himself into his boyfriend’s arms. Dongwoon stared at Byunghee silently, he did his best not to glare and mostly not to send any punches to his face, and the latter just bowed apologetically.

“We’re just friends. That’s all in the past.”

Dongwoon was still holding Kikwang in his arms before replying,

“I know. But I’m gonna be his husband soon. And I need to protect him.”

“...he’s so lucky to have you, Dongwoon-ssi. Now it’s my turn to ask you, to take care of him.”

Kikwang tugged Dongwoon’s arm softly as a sign that he wanted to leave, and Dongwoon agreed. But this time, his arms were wrapped securely around Kikwang’s body, as if to show everyone that Kikwang, is his property.

As they got to their apartment, Dongwoon couldn’t even stop kissing Kikwang, his emotions were killing him. He pushed Kikwang on the couch and started kissing his boyfriend wildly. His hand roamed inside Kikwang’s shirt and the latter moaned under the touch. It was obvious that Kikwang was still trembling and Dongwoon realized it. Even if their kiss started as a wild one, it ended up in a sweet, comforting kisses.
Kikwang sniffed softly into Dongwoon’s shoulders, grabbing them tightly.

We’re gonna get married.

Was Dongwoon’s soft whisper to calm Kikwang down.

I’m gonna make love to you like I’ve never done it before.

Kikwang even sniffed louder.

I don’t want to change. I’m still gonna be possessive all over you. Is it alright with you?

Dongwoon kissed Kikwang’s lips once again to comfort him.

Wonnie...don’t change, please...

It was enough for Dongwoon. They fell asleep with their fingers intertwining, and their rings matched perfectly.

***

Their wedding day was getting closer and Kikwang’s parents asked for them to be separated for a while. They say it’s good if they don’t meet until the day, to prevent breaking up and sort of things. Dongwoon’s parents also agreed to the idea.

So Kikwang decided to go back to his hometown after convincing Dongwoon to death that he’s not gonna meet Byunghee, and made a promise.

Dongwoon took him to the airport, waiting for him to check in before Kikwang finally went outside again to wave his boyfriend goodbye.

“It’ll only be for a while, right?”, Kikwang laced their fingers together and looked down at their couple rings.

“We won’t even realize it.”

“Promise me you’ll call?”

“Every night.”

Kikwang smiled shyly. “Alright.”

“Kwangie.”

“Hm?”

“Please keep your heart only for me.”

Kikwang tightened their enlacing fingers. I will. He tried to be calm while his heart was beating so fast. God, Son Dongwoon, stop making his heart beating like crazy.

“Because the next time we meet, it’d be the moment when we say ‘I Do’.”

Will there be any happiest moment other than that in Kikwang’s life? He really couldn’t wait, and in fact was really looking forward to it. Kikwang almost cried again, but he bit his lips hard, and nodded. He’ll be strong, because he knew he was meant to be to be with Dongwoon. He knew he was fated to be a Son Kikwang. And he’ll be faithful.

Because Kikwang knew, Dongwoon’s heart was already locked for anyone else, and that his loyalty belongs to Kikwang only.

End.
