Title: Unintentional [1/1]
Author: FloweryMisha
Pairing: KiWoon
Warning: BoyxBoy love. Enough said.
Summary: Dongwoon met his soulmate on his wedding day. Ironically, it’s not his bride.

Author’s Note: Unbeta-ed. Please, no translations allowed!!

It was unintentional.

Dongwoon had been living in a lie since he was a kid.

He pretended that he enjoyed living in whatever his family provided with. Expensive schools. Luxurious cars. Shining things-they shone too much that in a glance anyone would realize the price definitely had too many zeros. Some envied him. Some pretended to be nice to be his friends. Some loathed him.

Dongwoon was the only child so his parents gave everything to him.

And being a good son, he always obeyed.

Including when one afternoon, his mother just called him out of nothing and told him that he needed to go home because tomorrow is his wedding day. He almost screamed. Obeying everything, being a good son, a good heir to the family, it was okay, but even his parents decided his marriage? It was too much. But Dongwoon only sighed heavily and nodded at every words his mother said.

His bride to be is the youngest child of the Yoon family-his father’s best friend since he was a kid, he heard a lot of the names being mentioned. And it’s a she. Afterall, what else a bride would be? He had only met Doojoon, the oldest child once but they didn’t talk much. They have another son if he’s not mistaken, but he was studying abroad so he didn’t know much about him. Or them. Or the whole Yoon family, in fact.

You need to come home tomorrow.

Was his mother’s last words before she hung up.

Dongwoon leaned his back against the soft cushion of the couch and closed his eyes. He tried to think positive. He could probably fall in love with her. They could probably have babies and live happily ever after. Or, he could confess to her that women are not exactly his orientation and they could act like their marriage’s okay while it’s actually not.

Feeling burden by the wedding thought, Dongwoon slowly drifted to sleep, forgetting the fact that he should actually pack for tomorrow.

***

It was unintentional.

But for the first time in his life, Dongwoon actually felt his heart was running faster than the speed runner in the cartoon.

He was blonde.

Dongwoon always thought that blonde’s a bit...well, he preferred those with red, brunette, or any other colors than that, but this male...he just stepped into the room and everyone’s smiles turned brighter as they saw him. His wine was shaking, but it was actually his hand shaking hard and Dongwoon had to turn away just to take a deep breath.

He heard Bomi called out his name in a longing voice.

Kikwang.

Even his name made Dongwoon wanted to cry.

The three siblings-Doojoon, Kikwang and Bomi-hugged and laughed together in the joyous day.

Doojoon told her that both of them were sorry they couldn’t get in time-the plane got delayed-so they missed the sacred exchanging vows. Bomi told them that they’re here now and it’s all that matters. Kikwang reached out to her hand and smiled as he viewed the wedding ring.

The very same ring that curled in Dongwoon’s finger right now.

Doojoon looked over his shoulder and extended his hand to a person behind him. The male was shorter than Doojoon, he was cute and looked really shy as he put his hand on Doojoon’s. Bomi shrieked in happiness as she ran to the male-“Hey, be careful with Yoseob!”-and pulled him into a bone crushing hug. Yoseob seemed awkward by the sudden gesture but then he relaxed and smiled happily at everyone.

Then their parents came over to them and it became a happy family reunion.

Dongwoon wished it would stay that way.

But no, silly no.

It was Kikwang who looked up first and asked, “Where’s your husband, Bomiie?”

Bomi turned around happily and motioned him to come closer.

It may be just his imagination, but Dongwoon swore that Kikwang looked a bit surprised and he seemed to regret asking. As he walked closer to them, Bomi introduced him as her husband in a happy tone. Kikwang avoided his stare, but it was probably because Dongwoon stared at him intensely.

Dongwoon bowed to everyone and it was awkward for a moment, but it soon melted when their parents walked to greet another guest. Bomi also went to her friends who just showed up, leaving Dongwoon behind and Doojoon went to get drinks for Yoseob. So it left Dongwoon and Kikwang stood there alone, not too close, but not too far either.

Kikwang cleared his throat quietly and decided to strike a conversation.

”I’m Kikwang.”

Dongwoon, who was still unable to take his eyes off Kikwang, only nodded.

“I know...”

Kikwang looked up abruptly and when their eyes met, both of them knew that they got a spark.

And it was forbidden.

Because he’s his wife’s brother.

***

It was unintentional.

Dongwoon planned on telling Bomi that the reason why they can’t make love was because he couldn’t get it up, perhaps making up some erection dysfunctional reason, but it could end up in a wrong way, that Bomi would suggest him to go to a doctor and he just didn’t want all that.

They kissed in an awkward way, a really, really awkward way. It was like Dongwoon was having trouble breathing and Bomi flinched everytime their lips met. When Dongwoon finally got to the moment where he should takes off her bra, he went pale and stopped. He stopped completely, covering his mouth with a hand and the other hand was held up in the air.

“Oppa?”

Bomi thought it would be safe to say that word only, because if she’s about to ask ‘is something wrong?’ then Dongwoon could ask her the same. It was obvious that both of them didn’t want to continue.

Dongwoon breathed heavily and covered his eyes with both hands.

“I’m sorry, Bomi-ah... I’m... I’m gay...”Bomi blinked. Dongwoon thought she was going to scream and kick him and wanted divorce even though they haven’t reached a day yet, but she didn’t do anything. A minute later, he heard her giggling and Dongwoon opened his eyes with a frown.

She shrugged and smiled. “I guess that explains everything...”

“Explains what?”

“Well, we’ve never met each other. Then one day we just got a call and were told that we should go home because tomorrow it’s gonna be our wedding day. Surely there’s a thing or two-or tons-that we don’t know about each other. And, to be honest, I’m not ready for kids too,” she laughed and patted her stomach.

“You get the same call?”

“Oh my God, your parents did that too?”

Dongwoon laughed a bit and they both stared at each other.

She’s pretty. She’s soft. Her smile was sincere.

But it was different.

There was so spark.

Even in the middle of the night, in the bedroom, with a half naked Bomi-who’s actually so tempting but Dongwoon didn’t feel a thing for her-his mind still drifted to Kikwang without permission.

“How about,” Bomi put a finger on her chin as she talked. “We stay up all night and chat? Let’s get to know each other. What do you think?”

Dongwoon slowly smiled and felt grateful at her understanding. He gave her a nod.

“I think that’s a great idea.”

***

It was unintentional.

But Dongwoon and Bomi became best friends.

They went to the movies, they laughed hard at comedy shows, they even ate at cheap restaurants. Bomi was really fun and nice to hang out with, and it kinda made Dongwoon to feel guilty for not being able to love her. But she didn’t show any signs of regret and seemed okay with their established relationship.

As days turned to weeks, Dongwoon noticed that Bomi wasn’t really fond of make ups. She rarely put them on her face, and she looked pale, despite her milky skin. But Bomi always smiled. She always laughed.

Bomi was always eager and happy to tell stories about her older brothers. Doojoon, being the oldest son was always taking good care of them. He was responsible and reliable. He listened to her whining about schools, about the grades, friends, school clubs and Doojoon always tried to give her solutions. He dated a pretty girl named Gayoon before finally meeting Yoseob and realized that they’re meant to be. And Yoseob was such a sweetheart and they all loved him.

As for Kikwang, and everytime this name was mentioned, Dongwoon tried to act normal even though he almost couldn’t hold himself to ask Bomi to go on, and on, and on, because he wanted to know him more. Kikwang is the quietest of them all. They could never guess what’s on his mind because Kikwang tend to keep all things to himself. Even though his grades were good, he never talked. They never knew who he dated for, or who were his friends.

One day, Bomi almost collapsed and luckily Dongwoon was there to catch her. She was pale and her breathing was unsteady.

“Bomi-ah, are you okay?”, Dongwoon asked worriedly. “I’m gonna get you to the hospital.”

“No,” she sternly replied. “I’m okay. This is usual. I just need to take my medication.”

“Medication?”, Dongwoon frowned. For almost a month they shared stories and everything, it was not included.

“Don’t worry, I’ll be okay, I just need to rest and take the medicine,” Bomi gave him a look. “Hey, it’s not like I’m going to die, don’t make that face! I’m just tired is all.”

“And you’re too thin,” Dongwoon growled as he helped her to the bedroom. “You need to eat more, you know?”

“It’s a miracle that I can’t get fat,” Bomi laughed despite her pale face. “But tell that to Kikwang-oppa. He needs to eat more.”

Deg.

Again, Dongwoon tried to act normal, even though inside his heart suddenly beats a million times faster. “Wh-what’s wrong with him? He seemed okay...”

“His last boyfriend kinda dumped him,” Bomi tiredly said as Dongwoon laid her on the bed. “I don’t blame him. Kikwang-oppa’s kind of boring. It’s his fault that he’s too quiet. Maybe Junhyung-oppa had found someone else.”

“Really? I’m sure it’s not it. Maybe this Junhyung-oppa’s just stupid enough to dump Kikwang.”

Bomi blinked rapidly. “Yeah...yeah. Kikwang-oppa’s the best. He’s really nice and cares for me ever since we were little, you know? Even though my brothers are gay-and now my husband is too, hey, why am I being surrounded with gay people? But I’m really proud of them-and of you too, don’t worry. As long as they find someone who really cares about them too. Like Yoseob-oppa. He’s so cute and nice and caring and good at cooking-“

“Okay, you need to rest,” Dongwoon couldn’t resist the urge to laugh. “Now where’s the medicine?”

“Just tell the maid to get my medicine and that will do. In the meantime, you just go and see Kikwang-oppa, okay?”

Deg.

“No, I’ll just stay here with you.”

Bomi stubbornly shook her head. “No! I’m pretty sure Kikwang-oppa hasn’t eaten and now you need to go to his apartment and being a good brother in law you’ll take him out to this Japanese restaurant down the road-“

“Okay, okay, now be quiet and I’ll go. Just take a rest, okay?”

“Okay,” Bomi giggled before sighing and closed her eyes.

Dongwoon stayed silent in his track for a while. Should he go, or should he not go? But it was Bomi’s request...

“Just go, Dongwoon-oppa,” Bomi said with her eyes still closed. “I’ll count to three, if you’re still here I’m going to throw you my shoes. One.”

Dongwoon quickly held up his hands, defeated and left. Before he left the house, he told the maid to bring Bomi’s medication to the bedroom.

***

It was unintentional.

But when Dongwoon rang the doorbell, he thought he must be the most insane person in the world for doing it. What if he loses control and something happens? He pulled his hair in frustration, torn apart between going or staying. Dongwoon was just about to run away as far as possible when the door was opened.

And God, Kikwang was so damn beautiful.

For a moment, Dongwoon forgot what he came here for, because he was so stunned at those pretty eyes, sharp nose, thick, luscious lips, smooth cheeks... He was...pretty was an understatement. He was gorgeous. A breath taking creature. A person who had successfully stolen his heart...

“Dongwoon-ah?”, Kikwang asked in uncertainty.

“H-have you eaten?”

“I’m sorry?”

Dongwoon facepalmed, feeling ashamed of how stupid he sounded. “No, I’m the one who should be sorry... I... I just came to check up on you. Are you alright?”

Kikwang looked confused. “I... I guess?”

Another facepalm. “Okay, this is stupid. Well then I’ll see you around.”

“Wait!”

Dongwoon raised his brows at how loud Kikwang’s voice was, and the latter palmed his mouth and he was blushing.

“Do-do you want to come inside? I’m making something...”

“You cook?”

“Well, it’s been a while...”, Kikwang softly smiled. “But I guarantee the taste’s still the same.”

So unintentionally, Dongwoon came inside, and while Kikwang’s back at the kitchen to check on his food, the taller male stayed still at the living room, eyes wandering around at the frame photos. There were ones with Doojoon and Bomi, some were with families and friends he saw at their wedding party, and there was one with a foxy eyed male.

Dongwoon took the photo and examined it closer.

Kikwang’s smile was sincere in the photo and he looked happy. Scratch that. They looked happy.

He was still holding the photo in his hand when Kikwang got back in the room. Dongwoon didn’t seem to gonna let go of it at any moment so Kikwang cleared his throat. It got the taller male to turn to him.

“He’s good looking,” Dongwoon commented-it wasn’t even important at all-and put the frame back on the table.

“Yeah,” Kikwang replied with a slight frown. “Really.”

“Have you introduced him to the family?”

“He’s not-“

“You guys look...good together.”

“Stop asking,” Kikwang whispered and looked away. “Please. Please, just because I let you in here doesn’t make you have the right to judge and look at the pictures and-“

“Hey, hey...” Dongwoon reached out to grab the pretty male’s shoulders. “I’m sorry, I’m not judging you. I’m just... I’m just jealous, I guess.”

Kikwang looked down at Dongwoon’s strong hands in his shoulders. “J-jealous?”

“Yeah...he has you...”

None of them said anything and as much as Dongwoon wanted to slap himself for saying such stupid things, his hands stayed at Kikwang’s shoulders. Bomi was thin, indeed, and Kikwang’s not as thin as Bomi, but why did Dongwoon get the feeling that he’s weaker than her? He wanted to have this body, this figure in his arms, so bad, more than anything, more than his wife instead.

But this was wrong, Dongwoon shouldn’t be here, he shouldn’t be standing here with Kikwang with emotions flowing all over, jealous, longing, wanting, needing, caring, loving-loving?

“I-I should go,” Dongwoon said and he quickly headed to the door. But before he left, he looked over his shoulder for one last look and said, “You should eat more. Take good care of yourself.”

Kikwang didn’t respond even after he closed the door.

He made it sound like it’s their last time to meet, but he knew it was impossible.

It was impossible because Dongwoon couldn’t hide the need to meet him again.

***

It was unintentional.

Dongwoon couldn’t stop thinking about Kikwang.

Bomi was sick, she was probably too tired and lost her appetite to eat. Day by day, she’s getting even thinner than before. At first Dongwoon thought it was just a cold, and Bomi insisted of not going to the hospital or seeing any doctor, because she said she’s fine and it all would be over soon.

And it’s like she knew what’s going on with Dongwoon’s head.

She would ask of Kikwang to Dongwoon, she’d ask if he’s okay, if he’s eating well, if he’s seeing anyone right now. And Bomi would beg Dongwoon to look for him, to take care of his brother-now that he’s his brother in law, too-and Dongwoon would feel burdened to do it, because at a side he’s head over heels for Kikwang and he’s scared to see him, because all of these urges would flow to surface whenever they meet, and on the other side, Bomi was genuinely worried for his brother.

Confused, Dongwoon once called Doojoon, asking for help, wondering if he could look for Kikwang instead. But Doojoon didn’t want to, because he said if Bomi’s asking for something then he’s going to have to do it, one, because it’s Bomi, and two, because she’s his wife.

His wife.

Fate was cruel.

Why couldn’t he have Kikwang as his wife instead? Why did he have to meet Kikwang later than sooner?

And Dongwoon wondered if Doojoon knows about his feeling toward Kikwang...

When Dongwoon stood in front of Kikwang’s door, he knocked and knocked but Kikwang didn’t come out. He was about to kick the door open when Kikwang’s neighbor passed by and told him that usually at this hour, he’d be at the bar nearby. So Dongwoon dashed as soon as possible to the said place, and he sighed in relief when he spotted Kikwang at the corner of the room, alone, with a glass in his hand.

He still looked sober but when Dongwoon pulled him up and the former winced in pain, he knew he’s had too much.

“Let’s go home,” Dongwoon softly said and carried him bridal style. Kikwang obeyed, he laid his head on Dongwoon’s chest and grabbed the latter’s arms a little too tight.

But Dongwoon didn’t mind.

It felt so good to have Kikwang in his arms and that he’s safe.

***

It was unintentional.

Dongwoon was only planning to put him to the bed, placed a glass of water for him for the hangover when he wakes up the next morning, but Kikwang didn’t want him to leave just yet.

“My head,” Kikwang whimpered.

“You’re going to live,” Dongwoon pressed his hand to Kikwang’s forehead. “It’s just a hangover and you’ll survive.”

“It was never this painful.”

“Who told you to have five glasses? Now you know.”

“I thought I could forget...”

Dongwoon shook his head and caressed Kikwang’s hair comfortingly. “Forgetting is a process. Drinking away the pain is just temporary. What did you try to forget?”

“You...”, Kikwang murmured.

“I’m sorry?”

“He never dumped me because we were never in a relationship,” Kikwang quietly said. “He was a senior, and he was only considering of me as a younger brother. When he told me that he’s dating the person of his dream, I was... I don’t know. I was only thinking, finally. Finally we have a reason to separate.”

“This senior... Junhyung?”

“How did you-“, Kikwang looked surprised.

“I’m a male god,” Dongwoon smugly said and Kikwang laughed softly. “That’s good. Keep on laughing.”

“But my head hurts,” Kikwang pouted.

“Serves you right for drinking a lot.”

“Hey!”, Kikwang pinched Dongwoon playfully and the latter snickered.

They fell into a comfortable silence for a moment before the pretty male took a deep breath.

“I’ve met his boyfriend. He was pretty, too pretty in fact. He’s like a...living mannequin. He got doe, big eyes, and his skin’s so smooth like porcelain, and he’s...a doll face. And the way Junhyung-hyung sees him, it’s like he...worships him. And at that moment, I knew that I could never win...”

Kikwang smiled sadly and looked away. Dongwoon suddenly felt this strange sensation on his stomach. He hated this Junhyung. Even though they never met before, he just despised him because everytime Kikwang talked about him, he seemed sad. And he hated to see Kikwang sad.

“Fate’s cruel, right?”

“You should stop thinking about this Junhyung guy, because it’s making me jealous. And when I’m jealous...nothing good happens,” Dongwoon slowly said and touched Kikwang’s cheek. “You know... If I were him, I would never, never let you go.”

Kikwang knew he should be doing something like hitting Dongwoon in the face for saying something that makes his heart goes wild, but it was probably the alcohol’s work. There’s a hint of happiness in his heart when Dongwoon said those words.

“Why?”, he whispered.

“Because falling in love with you is the best thing that ever happened to me.”

And Dongwoon wasn’t playing. His tone, his stare...it was all true.

“Really?”, Kikwang whispered again, torn apart between scared and happy.

“Yes...”, Dongwoon brought Kikwang’s hand to his lips and kissed it lovingly. “But feelings can’t be forced. Maybe your fate isn’t destined to be with Junhyung afterall...and you know what’s even more cruel?”

“What..?”

“It’s even more cruel when you fall in love with someone, and that someone is your wife’s brother.”

Kikwang held his breath. All of a sudden, his headache just vanished.

“I’m desperate to touch you and I can’t,” Dongwoon said in pain and palmed his face. “I can’t-“

He never got to finish his sentence.

It just happened.

Kikwang had leaned forward and pressed his lips against Dongwoon’s. It was just a brief kiss, a lip to lip activity, where it happened so fast and you need it to be repeated again, just to know that it wasn’t a dream. They stared at each other for a few moment before Dongwoon pulled Kikwang closer by the waist and this time when they’re meeting their lips again, both of them knew it was real.

It was like a dream came true.

That Dongwoon had longed for Kikwang.

It felt so right to have Kikwang in his arms, to feel the soft lips of his, the faint scent all over him. It tasted like heaven when their lips were locked, tongues shyly glided on each other, feeling, teasing, needing, and it felt definitely different than Bomi’s.

“Please stay,” Kikwang begged in a whisper in Dongwoon’s ear, and he was intending to do so.

Dongwoon started to strip Kikwang and this time, not once that he had doubts. There’s not gonna be any reason that they can’t make love, because his passion was burning and he’s planning to leave marks all over Kikwang’s body. He’s not going to stop because he knew one thing for sure.

He wanted this man.

***

It was unintentional.

But Dongwoon had fallen in love deeper with Kikwang.

And for the first time after his marriage, when Dongwoon cracked his eyes open and he saw Kikwang lying beautifully naked, covered by blanket beside him, hands holding Dongwoon’s arm, mouth slightly opened and he breathed peacefully, Dongwoon wanted to cry.

This...is the kind of life he wanted.

Dongwoon didn’t dare to move, he loved having Kikwang holding on to him, his breath felt warm on his skin and he felt alive.

I love you.

It was just a thought, but it meant everything.

He had whispered it over and over again last night, but he’s not sure if Kikwang was saying it back.

“I love you,” Dongwoon whispered it unintentionally. He just whispered those words to himself, even if Kikwang didn’t hear it, or didn’t say it back, it was okay.

Kikwang was still breathing steadily and it got him to smile.

“I love you, and you completed me,” Dongwoon continued to whisper. “If there’s any chance for us to be together, I’d do anything to have it. God, you’re so beautiful...”

Dongwoon caressed Kikwang’s cheek caringly and that’s when Kikwang slowly opened his eyes. He blinked sleepily a few times before staring straight right into Dongwoon’s eyes. Those gazes. Dongwoon would love to have those eyes staring into his every morning...or even every moment available.

Both of them gasped when Dongwoon’s phone rang loudly and Kikwang sighed. Dongwoon laughed, ruffled his hair lovingly before sitting up and answered the phone. The name of the caller got him frowning a bit. It was Doojoon.

“Hello?”

Kikwang could hear that it was his brother’s voice, but he couldn’t make the conversation.

Dongwoon got up from the bed and it somehow alarmed Kikwang something was wrong.

“I’ll be there as soon as possible. I’ll go now.”

With that, he disconnected the call and walked to the chair where he threw all of the clothes last night.

“Wh-what’s wrong?”

“It’s Bomi,” Dongwoon started to dressed up. “She’s in the hospital. She vomitted blood.”

Kikwang felt like he was slapped hard. “Oh my God...what was I doing?”, he cried to his hands. “What was I-oh my God, she was sick? Was she sick, Dongwoonie?”

“She’s been sick for a while-“

“She-she was sick? And we-we were-“

“Hey,” Dongwoon cupped Kikwang’s cheeks and wiped his tears. “It’s alright. I’m not gonna let anyone hurt you, alright? Right now I need to go the hospital and I need you to come with me, okay?”

Kikwang was still trembling and he shook his head. “N-no, I can’t face her-“

“Hey, I need you to be strong with me on this, okay? Nothing’s bad going to happen, I’m gonna protect you no matter what, alright? It’s a promise. Now please dress up and I’ll drive.”

Dongwoon almost had to drag Kikwang out of the bed and helped him dressed.

Kikwang looked scared, and he understood what he felt, but most of all, he felt uneasy because of what Doojoon said on the phone.

“Bomi vomitted blood and now she’s in the hospital. She asked for you and Kikwang specifically. Please hurry.”

***

It was unintentional.

When Dongwoon arrived at the hospital, his parents in law were already there. Doojoon and Yoseob were there, too, and they didn’t seem surprised to see Kikwang was with him.

All the way to the hospital, Kikwang couldn’t stop trembling. He cried and freaked out when Dongwoon was about to pull him out of the car. Dongwoon had to hug Kikwang for almost ten minutes to calm him down. Now his eyes were kinda saggy from all of the tears. Dongwoon wanted to be by his side and keep on telling him everything’s gonna be alright, but right now he couldn’t.

“Is she okay?”, Dongwoon asked Doojoon.

Doojoon gave him a look. “She didn’t tell you anything?”

“No. Anything I should know?”

Doojoon stared at his parents. They only shook their heads as an answer. Then Doojoon’s eyes drifted to Yoseob who was trying to calm Kikwang down. “Bomi’s pretty critical right now. Let’s just wait until her condition gets better.”

“But this is killing Kikwang,” Dongwoon almost hissed. “And it’s killing me, too. Is there anything I should know, Hyung?”

“You should know that your marriage is a set up, but I think you already know that,” Doojoon replied in a low voice. “But it’s actually deeper than that. Bomi wanted all of this. And being the youngest child of the family-what she wants, she’s gotta have it.”

Dongwoon looked really confused. “I-I don’t understand.”

“Look, I’m in no position to explain, alright?”, Doojoon put a hand on Dongwoon’s shoulder. “All we can do is pray right now.”

And waiting can be such a pain.

Everyone was tired.

Doojoon had told his parents to go home and that he promised to tell them if Bomi’s feeling better. But there was something off. Even though they were worried, it’s like they’re...ready for anything that would happen. Dongwoon thought about it for a moment, but it didn’t last long because then it would soon be replaced by Kikwang-again.

Kikwang had been palming his mouth the whole time and he was still trembling-Dongwoon even gave him his jacket, wishing he would stop feeling scared.

“It’s-it’s my fault,” Kikwang whispered in fear. “It’s my fault, right?”

“Stop,” Dongwoon said. “It’s not the time to think about that.”

“I hope she’s alright... Bomi... She always smiles. Unlike me, she always smiles. She will survive, I know she will,” Kikwang continued to whisper. “She will, right? Because she has to...”

“Kikwangie,” Doojoon suddenly said. “You need to get a rest. Why don’t you and Yoseob-ah go to the car and get some sleep?”

“I think it’s a good idea,” Dongwoon agreed. “You look like hell.”

“I don’t want to go to sleep...”

“Come on, you definitely need some,” Yoseob pulled Kikwang’s hand. “Let’s go.”

Kikwang left in doubt and when he left, he stared at Dongwoon worriedly, and the latter just nodded to calm him down.

“This has happened a few times,” Doojoon said at the moment they disappeared from the view. “Kikwang was abroad so of course he didn’t know. And we didn’t tell him either, because we just didn’t want him to worry.”

Doojoon turned to Dongwoon.

“Cancer, stadium four. Bomi was tired with chemo. She said it hurts too much.”

“Cancer?”, Dongwoon was shocked. “That-that explains why she was so pale...but I don’t see the reasons why you hide the fact from Kikwang.”

“Mr. Yoon?”

They stopped talking and turned to a nurse who was walking up to them.

“Miss Bomi asked for Mr. Yoon Doojoon and her husband.”

“That’s us.”

They went to the room in a record time and Dongwoon’s heart was pained to see Bomi’s condition. She was lying weakly on the bed, with IVs everywhere and there’s a needle injected to her arm. She’s even paler, and her hair looked thinner. Why didn’t Dongwoon notice it? Bomi was sick, but it wasn’t just a cold. It was more than that.

“Hi,” Bomi smiled weakly. “You didn’t go home last night and I knew where you were.”

“I’m sorry,” Dongwoon softly said and went to her side. “I’m sorry, Bomi-ah...”

“What? No need to feel sorry. I’m the one who should be sorry for keeping this from you. In fact, one more apologizing and this IV will fly straight to your face.”

Dongwoon made a face. “Okay, just...don’t talk too much.”

“But I want to,” Bomi pouted. “If I don’t talk now, who knows if I may be able to talk again...”

“Please, don’t say that. Kikwang... He’s out there, crying, he’s scared... He wished for you to be alright,” Dongwoon’s voice was trembling and held her hand tightly. He could even feel her bones.

Bomi smiled at the mention of her brother. “Oppa likes you, you know that?”

“Eh?”

“Ever since he met you...but you didn’t notice him at all. I don’t blame you, there were too many people at the party. But when you stepped into the room, there was something in his eyes...and I just knew it. He was always the quiet one between us-I told you, remember? So of course he didn’t tell me, but I knew he was feeling something for you.”

Doojoon stood at the other side of the room with his hands crossed on his chest.

“And then my sickness went worse. I knew I only have less than a year to live, and I just wanted him to be happy... But Kikwang-oppa was always stubborn so I think of a way. When I found out that you’re our father’s best friend’s son, it made everything easier. I asked my parents to set up a marriage with you.”

Bomi coughed violently into her free hand and sighed.

“It’s hard to talk much when all you feel about is pain...”

“Then don’t, it’s okay, Doojoon-hyung will tell me.”

“No, I need you to hear it all from me,” Bomi shook her head and continued talking. “This is my idea to begin with. Anyway, marriage is the only way so that he would come home. And it worked. The moment I introduced you as my husband, he was shocked-and I think he hated me then. I could tell that from his eyes, but of course he tend to keep it all inside.”

She coughed again in pain.

“I get it, Bomi-ah. You want me to fall in love with him.”

Bomi giggled and flashed him a peace sign with her fingers. “It was worth a shot.”

Dongwoon growled and facepalmed. “You really went all the way, Bomi-ah. But what if...what if I was in love with you and I wasn’t even interested at him?”

“I’ll slap you so hard in the face to make you realize, or I’m gonna write it in my deathwill that I want you to marry my brother,” Bomi put on a serious face and Dongwoon laughed. “But the slap part isn’t needed. I knew it was love at first sight for you.”

Dongwoon smiled and sighed. This girl was really something. He squeezed her hand softly.

“I want to apologize to Kikwang-oppa...is he here?”

“Yeah, he’s in the car with Yoseob. I already texted them,” Doojoon said. “They’re on their way.”

Bomi closed her eyes and it’s obvious she was struggling in pain. “It’s so painful...”

“You’re a tough girl. You’ll make it,” Dongwoon whispered and held her hand tight.

“I’m tired, Dongwoon-oppa... I’m tired. It’s too painful...”

“Please, please try,” Dongwoon begged. “You want to apologize to Kikwang, right? You have to be strong just for a little while.”

“I wish I could be there at your wedding day,” Bomi blinked and her tears started falling. “I wish I could see Kikwang-oppa’s pretty smile as you two walked down the aisle. I wish I could survive...”

She coughed again and this time it was blood.

“Please tell Kikwang-oppa I’m sorry...”

Her pulse suddenly dropped and she had lost consciousness. Doojoon immediately called the nurse and few of them went into the room, signaling and exclaiming about surgery and procedures. The minute they brought her out, Kikwang and Yoseob had just arrived and Kikwang was scared to see her condition, he had his back glued on the wall as they passed by.

It all happened so fast.

Dongwoon hugged Kikwang to calm him down. He wished there was something he could do to make him stop crying. But with this situation, he knew nothing can be done.

When the doctor came out of the surgery room and shook his head, they knew she didn’t feel pain anymore.

Bomi was gone.

***

It was unintentional.

For things to turn out this way.

But maybe Bomi had it all planned from the start.

She was beautiful even when she’s lifeless. When they put her in the coffin, her lips curved slightly, it’s like she was smiling. She seemed to die peacefully, despite the cancer that’s eating her insides.

They cried in sadness. But because it had happened a few times before, they were ready for the situation. In fact, just like Bomi said, she even wrote her deathwill. The family’s lawyer read it in front of the family members and it included her wish for Dongwoon and Kikwang to get married.

Kikwang was, probably the saddest one of them all.

He’s been visiting Bomi’s grave for a month, alone, and then he would cry and mourn. He’s been ignoring Dongwoon-the latter understood and he wasn’t planning to leave even if he was ignored-because he felt so guilty about what had happened at the night Bomi vomitted blood and he still blamed himself for her death.

And one day, Dongwoon just had enough.

Kikwang needs to move on.

So he followed Kikwang to the grave and waited patiently until the latter stopped crying.

“I’m sorry, Bomiie...”, Kikwang whispered in tears. “I’m sorry...”

“You know,” Dongwoon suddenly said and Kikwang turned to him, feeling surprised. “Bomi would probably scowl and threaten she’s going to throw you with something if you don’t stop saying that. I wonder if she’s actually already throwing you with something invinsible from above.”

It got Kikwang to smile a bit and wiped his tears. “That’s just like her.”

“Yeah...”, Dongwoon smiled back.

They fell quiet for a moment.

“Anyway, I came here today with a purpose. Bomi-ah, I’m going to ask Kikwang to marry me-right here, in front of you.”

Kikwang was stunned. “D-Dongwoonie-“

“See? He even called me Dongwoonie, which means... He likes me too,” Dongwoon continued and stared at her tombstone. “I have a confession to make, Bomi-ah. You were right. I fell in love at first sight when I met him. At our wedding day, when he stepped into the room, I was like...wow. Someone as beautiful as him did exist. I tried not to think about him but I couldn’t. He kept on appearing and he was so huge in this tiny mind. And then you were...you were encouraging me to go to his place, to check on him, I’d say that was intentional. Nicely planned, by the way. It worked out. I hope you’re happy up there...”

Dongwoon turned to Kikwang who was still quiet.

“I love him so much, Bomi-ah. More than anything. I wonder if he ever realized this.”

“I...I heard you that morning,” Kikwang whispered. “I’m just scared it wasn’t true...”

“It’s true,” Dongwoon now kneeled on the ground. “You have nothing to be scared about. I’m going to protect you from harm, from anything, no matter what. Do you believe me?”

Kikwang slowly nodded. “Yes...”

“Good. Because it's true. I’d never leave you. Until death do us part.”

When Dongwoon pulled out a small velvet box from his pocket and he asked Kikwang the ultimate question, he waited patiently for an answer. He didn’t care how much longer it would take, because Kikwang seemed absolutely shocked. Dongwoon wouldn’t take no for an answer, he would chase this man, he would do anything to have this man, because his love for him is real, not because of Bomi’s will, but because it’s what he felt from the start.

And this time, it was intentional.

End.
