Summary: Kikwang’s in the fourth phase of the relationship. Friends. Dating. Engaged. Marriage.
[5] Dongwoon didn’t come home that night.
Kikwang woke up on the couch, with the TV’s still on in the morning. He glanced at the watch and rubbed his eyes sleepily. Kikwang felt his back ached, due to his sleeping position on the couch. He must’ve fallen asleep while waiting for Dongwoon last night. Kikwang then checked his phone only to see nothing. No text messages, no missed calls...Dongwoon didn’t inform him anything.
The pretty male sighed and licked his lips.
Perhaps he was...so busy?
Yeah, that must be it.
Kikwang stood up, changed the channel to watch the news and headed to the kitchen. He decided at least he’s gonna check the office and bring Dongwoon something to eat. Lately he kinda noticed Dongwoon’s not eating regularly and having less sleep. When he’s done with the food-shoved some into his mouth, too-Kikwang grabbed his towel and stripped. He kicked his clothes aside and stopped as the shirt he just kicked landed on the luggage. Kikwang suddenly remembered.
Packing...
...or not packing?
Kikwang shook his head in disbelief at the packing thought and decided to take a long, cold shower. Drops of water were everywhere on his body, and his mind still couldn’t forget Dongjun’s words from last night.
Did he ever tell you anything-anything-about what’s happening in the office?
Kikwang grabbed his shoulders and started digging into them.
As in details?
He was starting to shiver.
If it was me... I’d never do that. I’d never change. Not to you.
Kikwang gritted his teeth and shutting his eyes in pain.
Relax, Kikwang. Dongwoon’s just not the type to share. Don’t let Dongjun’s words affecting you. Come on, all this time you have no problem with it. Dongwoon will tell you if it’s important. Dongwoon loves you.
He turned off the shower and leaned his head against the cold wall. And suddenly a painful memory struck him.
Then why...did your handkerchief smell of someone else, Woonie?
***
When Kikwang arrived at the office, he could tell that the place was in disaster.
The phones wouldn’t stop ringing, everyone seemed like panicking and they were walking back and forth with phones on their ears. Kikwang stood there dumbly with lunchboxes in his hands. He tried to talk to someone but they all seemed so busy. Oh well, maybe he’d just go to Dongwoon’s office and leave the food there...
“Kikwang-ah?”
Kikwang turned at the voice and waved awkwardly at Narsha. “Good morning, Noona.”
“Why are you-oh, for Dongwoonie? He didn’t come home last night?”, Narsha stared at the lunchboxes in his hands.
Kikwang nodded. “Seems like the situation’s quite hectic?”
“It was disastreous!”, Narsha was half whining, even her perfect hair looked messy. “So you know that we got this new deal from the Star Empire company, right?” Kikwang nodded even though he didn’t know at all. “So they sent us their maknae to help around, and he was really helpful, and he was also great at multitasking-filing reports, designing the media-basically he’s our everything. Suddenly he quit yesterday and just took off. Now we’re all in trouble.”
Narsha looked really tired and she sighed heavily.
Kikwang looked sorry. So Dongwoon was really busy. He could never imagined the life that Dongwoon’s been through. Being responsible at such a young age, everyone was looking up to him, leaning on him, and Kikwang was just...doing nothing-well, basically he’s only shopping, cooking, doing laundry, shopping, cooking, doing laundry-his burden’s nothing compared with his husband’s, but Dongwoon still comes home with a smile.
How could I be so mean?
“Noona, don’t forget to eat too,” Kikwang said softly. “I made quite a few...please eat with Dongwoon later.”
Narsha smiled at him. “Aww, my brother’s in law is so nice! I will eat it later. Are you going to Dongwoon’s office?”
“Yeah...I will put it there.”
“I think Dongwoon’s in the meeting room with Kevin and Siwan, discussing who’s the perfect candidate to replace-“
“It’s okay. Will you tell him later that I stopped by?”
“Of course, dear.”
After Kikwang put the food in Dongwoon’s office, he walked out of the building and frowned slightly. It feels kinda strange coming to the office without seeing or even saying goodbye to Dongwoon. But the current situation was not good inside... Kikwang let his feet brought him to Dongwoon’s car and decided to text his husband. Maybe he’ll just send some motivational words-and supports, of course. He was absent mindedly typing Hwaiting on his phone when suddenly, something inside Dongwoon’s car caught his eyes.
He leaned forward to take a good look.
A shirt.
A work shirt.
And it’s not Dongwoon’s.
Kikwang pressed a hand on the window and his eyes widened. He remembered, his memory was right, afterall he was the one who’s doing the laundry and ironing all of their clothes-and he, remembered all of Dongwoon’s clothes precisely, and that one is not Dongwoon’s. For sure. He started to tremble and took a step back.
Kikwang’s doubts were growing-again.
Was it really because of a co worker had resigned...
He clutched his chest in pain.
...or was it because he’s with someone else?
***
Kikwang had packed.
But it’s more like packing to run away from home instead of leaving.
He didn’t feel like going home.
He just didn’t want to go home-not without Dongwoon. But he’s also not sure if he’s gonna be able to face Dongwoon without crying. Kikwang was able to hold his tears-something that he should be proud of. He was feeling broken hearted. And the feeling was even worse than being hated by Dongwoon’s mother. This was painful. Too painful.
Kikwang needed someone.
He immediately thought of Mir, but he couldn’t reach the younger male. He thought about his friends, but none of them were close like Mir. Kikwang’s just...he just needs someone who understands Dongwoon. Because he feels like he can’t understand anything at the moment.
Kikwang stared coldly at the pie in front of him. He’s not even hungry anymore. Kikwang sighed and palmed his face. This is not good, he should just go home already-
“Kikwang-ah?”
The said male looked up surprisingly. A handsome male was smiling at him.
“Doojoon...hyung?”
“Hey,” Doojoon waved. “How are you? Are you...all alone?”, he glanced around, just in case if Kikwang’s with a friend.
“I’m good, Hyung. And yeah... I’m alone.”
Doojoon kept on smiling, despite the tone he caught on Kikwang. “How’s Dongwoon? Is he okay?”
Kikwang flinched at the mention of the name. “He’s...he’s okay.”
Doojoon must’ve noticed this because he was frowning. “Okay... And...?”
“And...?”, Kikwang trailed off, unable to finish his sentence. He looked down at his untouched pie.
Doojoon seated himself in front of the chair in front of Kikwang. “Kikwang-ah... Is everything alright?”
“...yeah, Hyung...”
“Don’t yeah me. Tell me what that dork has done to you.”
Kikwang smiled a little at the word Doojoon used and shook his head slowly. “He’s done nothing, Hyung...”
Doojoon sighed. “Then why are you sad like this?”
Kikwang’s head snapped up. “I-I-“ Was he that obvious? Even Doojoon could tell?
“Did he hurt you, Kikwang-ah?”
“No-well, I-“, Kikwang stuttered. “I mean, I don’t know-no.”
Doojoon was quiet, but his gaze was piercing at Kikwang. The latter shifted uncomfortably under his gaze. Doojoon was Dongwoon’s best man, right? Maybe-maybe it’s okay to share...just a bit?
“He’s-he’s done nothing wrong... I-I just...don’t know who to trust anymore... That’s all...”
“Who to trust?”
“...yeah...”
It was silence for a moment before the older male spoke up.
“I think,” Doojoon said quietly. “The answer is obvious, Kikwang-ah...”, he grabbed Kikwang’s wrist softly, yanking his fingers. It made Kikwang turned to stare at his fingers. At his ring finger. At his ring. His wedding ring. “This, is the reason...”
Kikwang brought his other hand to his mouth.
It’s as if Doojoon was trying to say,
“You should believe in Dongwoon.”
Because he is your husband.

Dongjun waited at the airport lobby patiently. It’s almost time to check in, but the person he’s been waiting for hasn’t arrived yet. He bit his inner lip nervously, wondering if Kikwang will be able to make it or not.
He sighed.
What the hell am I doing?
Dongjun nonchalantly wished Kikwang didn’t come. Because if Kikwang comes, he’s not gonna be able to hold himself, he’s not gonna be able to stop himself from saying those cheesy words, but most of all, he’s not gonna be able to stop loving Kikwang.
Love.
How come he feels like it’s the most beautiful thing in the world?
But why, why does it have to be Kikwang?
Why can’t it be someone else-preferably single?
Dongjun’s been asking these questions to himself over and over again-and he comes to a conclusion: It can’t be helped.
His heart refused to beat faster for the sight of anyone else-and it can’t be helped. Kikwang is pretty, and Dongjun wants him.
Just...don’t come.
Dongjun smiled sadly at his own thought.
But... Will you come?
He glanced at his watch and waited for another five minutes. When five minutes had passed, Dongjun inhaled deeply before standing up and decided to check in. He reached his pocket for the two tickets to Seattle. He’s just gonna need one.
“Dongjun-ah.”
Dongjun’s eyes widened at the voice and he turned around. “Ki-Kikwang-hyung... I thought you’d never come,” his smile grew even wider as he noticed the bag Kikwang’s been holding. “You’ve...packed?”
But Kikwang shook his head. “I can’t...”
“Why?”
“I love Dongwoon,” Kikwang said if firmly. “I don’t want to, no, I can’t leave him...”
“I know you do, Hyung,” Dongjun said. “But does he?”
Kikwang looked taken aback at Dongjun’s reply. “Does he...what?”
“Does he love you?”
That seemed to shock Kikwang. He even took a step back. He was shocked, he was confused, all of a sudden he just wanted to slap Dongjun hard. “Stop it, Dongjun-ah...stop saying such mean words. He...he does. I... I know he does...”, however, Kikwang’s voice trailed to whisper at the last sentence.
“Then tell me, why do you feel like he’s been neglecting you?”
Kikwang’s eyes widened at Dongjun’s bluntness and covered his mouth with his hand. Th-this boy!!
“Why do you feel like he’s lying to you?”
“He-he’s not...”
“Then tell me it isn’t true,” Dongjun grabbed Kikwang’s shoulders and gave him a look. “Look at me and tell me it isn’t true, Hyung.”
Kikwang released himself abruptly from Dongjun’s grip and a hurt look was on his face. “Stop, Dongjun-ah...please stop!!”
The older male was half screaming that they were starting to gain stares from the people around. Dongjun stared at them apologetically and took a quick glance at his watch. He-no, they need to get going.
“Hyung...”
Kikwang looked up, he looked really depressed. Poor thing, he must’ve been confused for the last few days. Dongjun suddenly felt guilty for making him feeling like that. And now that Kikwang's in front of him, he's just wouldn't let him go. He's not gonna let go of this chance.
“Please give me a chance,” Dongjun plead. “And let this be a test, too.”
“A test...?”
“Two months...no, three months max. Come with me to Seattle, and if until three months, Dongwoon’s not coming to get you...then you’re mine.”
“That's ridiculous. I’m not a thing,” Kikwang whispered. “I’m... I’m not a toy, Dongjun-ah...”
“And I don’t plan on considering you as that,” Dongjun said. “If, before three months, Dongwoon succeeds to find you...then I give up. I’ll stop trying. And before Dongwoon comes, I’m gonna prove to you that I’m different. I am different, Hyung.”
I will try to make you love me.
Kikwang looked hesitant. “Before...three months?”
“Of course, under one condition.”
“Wh-what is it?”
“Turn off your phone. I don’t want him to locate you easily with that GPS. I’ll buy you a new one as soon as we reach Seattle. And we’ll change your number later.”
Kikwang couldn’t say anything. He could only stared at the taller male in front of him, who looked dead serious, and it was clear that he’s not joking. Suddenly, Kikwang felt scared. What if Dongwoon doesn’t come to get him? What if... Wait, he can always tell Dongwoon via emails or something?
“Of course you can tell him where you are,” Dongjun suddenly spoke, as if he’s able to read what’s on Kikwang’s mind. “But then...you’d know that it’s not true love.”
Dongjun offered his hand at Kikwang, hoping he’d accept the offer.
Please.
Kikwang closed his eyes desperately. He doesn’t know if he’s going to regret his decision.
Or not.
***
Half an hour later, they were already at the departure room.
Dongjun looked relieved-and happy, if Kikwang may add.
Kikwang kept on glancing at the huge clock on the screen. They’re gonna be boarding in any minute. They were the last to check in, luckily they still could make it. Kikwang sighed. He grabbed his phone and was starting to type something to Dongwoon. But then he changed his mind and decided to call. Dongjun stared at him, but Kikwang pretended not realizing it. The deal starts after they reach Seattle, right?
Dongwoon picked up after the first tone.
“Baby?”, Kikwang’s voice cracked and he cleared his throat.
“Hey, Kiki,” Dongwoon replied with his favorite nickname.
Kikwang found himself smiling shyly at the name. He also could feel that Dongwoon’s tired from his voice. “Hey... Are you..still at the office?”
“Yeah...but it’s under control now. I might be able to go home in a few hours. Where are you? It’s so noisy.”
“I-I’m outside.”
“You’re not home yet? Are you alright? Are you buying dinner?”
“Y-yeah...b-but, if you’re going to eat dinner with Narsha noona, it’s okay...just be sure to eat well, alright?”
“I think I will. Noona’s already ordered. Oh, and thank you for your cooking, baby. It was delicious, as always.”
“Really? You ate it all?”
“I ate it all,” Dongwoon smiled. “Be careful when you’re heading home.”
Son Dongwoon.
The tears were threatening to fall.
“I-I will, Woonie...”
“I miss you. I’ll see you soon, alright?”
The tears fell to his cheeks.
Will you look for me?
Dongjun saw this and managed to prevent himself from touching Kikwang to wipe his tears.
“Woonie...?”
“Hm?”
Kikwang bowed deeply to hide his tears.
“...just...take care, baby. Goodbye.”
I love you.
Dongwoon frowned and he felt odd. He opened his mouth to say something, but Kikwang had already disconnected the call. For a moment, Dongwoon leaned his back on his chair, eyes gazing to the ceiling. He couldn’t help but feeling something was awfully wrong, and his hunch about Kikwang is always right. He then tried to call Kikwang back, but it was no use.
Kikwang had already turned off his phone.
