After that lovely little throat grabbing display in the living room I realized that Angel was no longer in the hizzouse. Angelus. Damn it, I knew I should have just kept that vision to myself. I got in the car and just peeled the hell out of the driveway and grabbed my cell phone out of my purse, dialing a familiar number, wanting help. NOW. I pull ( Read more... )

I had just left my...rather, awkward conversation over at the Hyperion with Fred. It was...strange, talking with anyone from Angel Investigations again. Cries for help at my doorstep not withstanding. Still deep in thought I was driving home. I checked my watched and noticed I still had half an hour before Mister Lieberman would show up for his appointment. Something about demon rats.

Annoyed I look down at my cell phone going off. Again. "Dammit, now what." I'm half tempted to just let it ring. Maybe it was Fred again with some story. Or Gunn calling to curse at me for daring to come into the hotel and talk to Fred. Still so insecure about that relationship it's sad. Doesn't he realize that ship has sailed and sunk?

Sighing, I pressed the button of the car kit phone. Something tells me I should've checked the number. "Pryce," I say gruffly. This had better be go.

Pryce.

"Oh thank GOD! Wesley!" I cry out into the phone and lift my head from the steering wheel, whipping my head around and making sure Angelus is no where around me. "You have got to come here pronto! It's all gone wrong and I need your help. We need big help, I mean big help, we aren't gonna be able to do this job alone? Do you know anyone? And did I mention I need you NOW?!"

I lock the car doors and let out a nervous scream as a guy walks beside the car. He looks at me and continues walking, I let out a sigh.

"Wesley, did you hear me?" I bark into the phone.

Nearly driving the car off the road as Cordelia's voice shrieks from the speakers, I blink at it. What the hell? Why is she calling me suddenly. What am I? Damsel in distress central? Where are Angel and Gunn when you need them? And why are they calling me of all people, they've made it so very clear that they didn't want me around them anymore.

Still, it worried me that Cordelia Chase of all people sounded so out of control. With a sigh I park the car in front of my apartment building. "Cordelia? Could you please calm down and tell me what's wrong?" Picking up the phone I get out of the car and rip it away from my ear as she screams.

"Cordy? What the bloody hell is going on?" I'm seriously worried now. Cordelia Chase does not scream like that. At least not anymore. Closing the car I lock the door and job up the stairs to my apartment.

Cordy? What the bloody hell is going on?

"Wes... he's gone. Angel's gone." I feel myself choking up and I want to scream and cry, keep it together Chase. "Ange-Angelus is back Wesley. I need you here now, please? Please come, we've got to do something. We've got to save him!"

I turn the car on and I start driving slowly along the road, my eyes wandering constantly, ready for anything.

"We're in Sunnydale. We need reinforcements Wesley, he's... he's with Buffy right now." I say nervously and stop the car abruptly. "Oh god Wes, you don't think? Oh god! I left her there! He made me leave! I didn't want to leave, oh Buffy."

I'm hysterical at this point and it isn't doing anyone any good, other than making me feel a bit better to get it out. I wipe my eyes and look at the quiet road.

"Wesley, you are coming that's final, do you hear me?" I demand.

Biting absently on my thumbnail, I was filled with a sense that I was way too fucking familiar with for comfort. Damn Buffy, you gotta stop doing this to me. Dying then coming back, then dying again so I could feel it all over again. That wrench in my heart and the lump in my throat that just won't fucking go away. You bitch, couldn't you just stay dead the first time. She couldn't do this to me again.

"Hey Hanley, I didn't know you was British." The voice startled me and I looked up to see one of the guards staring down at me.

"Huh?"

"Your brother's here. Get your ass out here and come talk to him."

Before I could say anything the door was being opened and she was standing at the door with a raised eyebrow. My brother was here? Fuck. This wasn't good, this was very fucking far from good.

When I walked out to the phones again I wasn't all that surprised to see Wesley there. Picking up the phone I didn't hesitate for a second.

"What the hell happened to Buffy?"

And that answers that question. The feeling of dread balls up in my stomach like a cold stone. Faith felt something, that means that Buffy probably dead. Or undead rather. Sighing, I looked down at my hands for a moment, feeling sad that we'd lost her. I've not known her very well but she'll be missed. By her friends, her family. Even I feel her loss.

Right, lets not beat around the bush here. We're wasting precious time as it is. "You've felt it then." I wasn't a question, more a conversation. "If you've felt it, there no doubt she's dead by now. It's...Angelus, Faith. He's back, in Sunnydale." Swallowing hard, I sit back in my chair and look directly at her. "There's a big chance he turned Buffy. We need you, Faith." She is the only Slayer now, the only one who could help us to stop both of them until we could contact Willow.

I felt it. My heart stopped, her heart stopped. Fuck me, this was really happening. Buffy was becoming a cold dead thing and not in the way that corpses are meant to I'm pretty sure, and Angel....the one thing I was supposed to count on...gone. It was like the rug had just been pulled out from underneath me and I'd landed hard on my ass with no ground to stand on.

"Move out of the way." I said quietly and definitely. Fuck fuck fuck! What was I supposed to do about this? Buffy and Angel? They were the good guys, I was the bad guy. The entire world has just turned upside down.

I watched wearily as Wesley stood up and backed away from the glass. Without thinking about it I got up and stepped away too. Taking a run I jumped into the air, and felt the glass around me breaking as I rolled onto the other side.

Hesitantly I step away from the glass and watch wearily as Faith jumps through it. Well, that's just great and very spectacular. What are we going to now however? The moment she breaks the glass the alarms go off and two guards run into the room. Moving quickly I knock them out and quickly hold the door open.

"We better make a run for it eh?" A glance out of the door reveals there are already several other guards approaching. Taking of in a run, I look behind me to make certain Faith is right behind me. I've no idea where to run toward, but the exit as I remember it doesn't sound like a good plan.

"Let's find a window and hope it looks out on the parking lot. Cordy is waiting there for us in the car." And let's find a window a few floors down. I've no real wish to break my spine just yet. Throwing open the door, I sigh in relief as it reveals a set of stairs.

While Cordelia gets us a room, I open the trunk of the car. "I've weapons here," I tell Faith handing her the large back with my weapons. I'm not letting her near my books. Hoisting that bag out myself I close the trunk just in time to see Cordelia come out again ( ... )

"It's cool." I said quickly to Cordelia as the fucking Queen herself thanked me. Thanked me. Didn't see that one coming after her little Finch speech. Chick was moody as all hell. Then again, so was I.

Walking into the room, I stopped in my tracks for a minute and looked around the room. Dive motel room, really wasn't expectin' that. First night outta the Pen and I'm already seein' digs that look all too familiar. Anything's better than laying flat on my back with some Bertha snoozing away on the bunk just above mine.

I set the weapons bag on the floor just before plopping down on the couch. I took one last drag off of my smoke, before butting it out on the small ashtray on the table nearby. "So..." I began in a low voice. "Anyone wanna give me the details?" How did Angel lose his soul? Did he and B get bouncy with it again?

I looked up from the stain on the floor I'd been looking at since apologizing when I heard Faith's voice asking what happened. I looked at the bathroom door that was closed, Wes tucked inside it talking on the phone.

"We went to Sunnydale because Spike vamped Tara, Willow's witchy girlfriend, after she got shot by some hoodlum." I begin, watching as she stubs out her smoke. "We were staying at Buffy's place, did a spell on it, uninvited everyone. Except we let Angel in of course, so when he came back with her after they fought, she didn't even know. I'm guessing it happened while they were fighting, because he came back Angelus."

I get up and pace between the wall and the bed, chewing on my bottom lip as I try to put things together. Angel and Buffy fought, something happened, Angel lost his soul. Who or how'd that happen?

"He grabbed me by the throat and told me to get the hell out or he'd kill me. I left." I looked blankly at the wall ahead of me as I realized I left Buffy with him and that really sucked.

I checked the time quickly to see if I would be able to call Giles but found it was still to early there. I could still call of course, but the man couldn't do anything about it from there anyway. At least someone should be able to get some sleep.

I checked in on my own crew and delegated some of the cases. I set Emil out to look for two orbs of Thesula as soon as possible. Yesterday actually. Then I thought about how to tell Dawn that her sister had died and came up a bit blank. Good god, poor girl.

Opening the door I stepped out again with a sigh and bit down on a remark about them being still alive. "I've set my crew out to trace down two orbs of Thesula," I muttered. I glanced over at Cordelia and noticed the blank look. Sighing, I touched her back lightly as I walked over to grab the bag of books.
