It was probably a bad idea, but Sam grabbed some more ammo before they left the town, making certain that he was as stocked up as he could be. Who the hell knew what was coming up in the next place, after all

"Normal enough." Ash shifted on his feet; his dagger he'd left strapped around his waist, under the suit, but the sword he'd strapped to the outside; he refused to be caught unarmed anywhere in here. He'd come with that sword and he wasn't leaving it behind for anything. As for the suit, he just had to pretend it was his usual armor only lighter. "But I don't trust this place to be normal for very long." Something about it made him uneasy.
"No, I don't trust it, either." It 'looking normal enough' wasn't really reason for him to trust it, after all.
Shotgun shells had been put into the outer pockets of the suit, since that was all Sam had to carry them in. Once he was out of those, he was kind of fucked. "Ever hear the cliche about, 'It's quiet. Too quiet.'? Because that's seriously the vibe I'm getting now."
The suit would make Ash's gestures too clumsy for spell-casting, so he was, in essence, limited to his sword. But he hoped it wouldn't come to combat. "Yeah. Not even birds chirping." He'd learned in his time of escorting caravans that that was the thing to worry about.
He scanned the sky, the trees. None of the mating songs or territorial squawks, even though he could see birds here and there. He'd swear that sparrow he just saw fly off had too many eyes. "You don't have to be a druid to know there's something really wrong here."
Sam shuddered, jerking his head toward the town. "Let's head that way. Maybe there's a road that'll lead to the other end of this place." Not that they're likely to be able to get out before night fall. Hasn't seemed to work that way any other level they were in. "If it weren't so creepy, it'd be kind of nice here."
