[filtered to the Vicky / easy to hack] voice

Jan 10, 2010 22:48

[there are sounds of things being pushed around inside a room, and the voice is uneven, as if the speaker is moving] Isn't it worse than usual this year? It feels worse. [muttering] Bad magic weather, that's what it is. There's only one cure. More sake. Isn't there any more [thump] sake on this ship?

There's no drinkable alcohol on this ship in the first place.

WHAT? WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN? I'M GOING TO GIVE THOSE QUARTERMASTERS A PIECE OF MY MIND! THIS KIND OF THING IS EXACTLY WHAT THEIR JOB IS! DO THEY THINK THEY CAN BE SO LAZY? How could they let this happen on the holidays?! Hmph! Things must be pretty lax around here after all.

There never has been any sake or other sort of alcohol on the ship. If you want to get trashed, do it out of the ship.

There's no alcohol on the ship...is this a bad joke? I thought I was on a military ship, not locked up in a girl's boarding school!

I do not think alcohol will quell any sickness you are feeling, but if you would like a cup of herbal tea, I would not mind bringing you one.

... but what is sake? I've never heard of such a drink.

Oh, ha! Don't bother with it. I'm sure I'll manage to find something...Just wait till you get a little older, you'll know what I'm taking about. But, you've never heard of sake? Really? It's a Solarian drink, made from fermented rice.

Ah, no. But thank you, I did not know.

Quite awful, this year, I think.

Sake is... rice wine, correct? Unfortunately I don't have any of that particular sort, but... I happen to have in my possession a bottle of red wine, if that would be a tolerable substitute to share.

[she sounds excited] Really? Oh, I misjudged you! I thought were going to be strict!

Well, to be fair, I don't believe in drinking for no good reason.

With this sort of... situation, though, good reasons are not hard to find.

Perhaps we had better keep things to my quarters however, or off-ship, as the captain has no authority to go through my personal effects.

Yeah! I had no idea the Captain was such an old maid. Now I wish I were back on base after all.

Wouldn't tea be better, miss?

Maybe if you're really old and about to die.

No. I don't tolerate drunkenness on my ship.

Your intent is to get drunk, is it not?

Captain, I had no idea you were a member of the United Women's Temperance Organization!
