It almost brought me to tears! Like, really. Because I sooo feel the same way about this play... and it just has so much beauty and emotion in it. And meaning. I've never tried to write a review for this before because I wouldn't know how to form it all into words. But you did! Yay!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. This play probably touched on every subject that I have ever cared about and drawn every conclusion I've ever wanted to make - it was quite the experience to watch.
You are amazing and impressive and I agree with pretty much everything you've written in this review.
Everything that Lucifer represents, all the doubts and questions and the ever-present resentment towards God just speaks so clearly to my inner atheist; and obviously, I absolutely love this play for voicing all of it and for trying to show us that human existence isn't black-and-white.
I would be more eloquent, but I'm tired and you said it all much better than I ever could. We need to watch this play together again; and next time, we shall skip the revue, yes indeed. XD
I saw Tarantella in the theater myself. Fullstop. It's one of those revues that tie you to themselves immidiately if you see them yourself, but need quite a lot of time to get or probably will never be as impressed with if you watch them only on the dvd.
A friend of me had the same with Solomon no Yubiwa, which is in my opinion a quite decent revue, but not as WOW as it is for her.
Apart from that, it was the play and the revue that made me fall for yukigumi, and it was my first live daigekijou show. It just means so much to me, I am madly in love with the actresses and I am helplessy into the dark, nearly rotten revues of Ogita-sensei (Babylon is another example of this kind - he writes other revues as well of course, but I'm referring to this kind in particular), and I guess that what makes Tarantella so much of a treasure for me. Oh, and it is quite exactly Yukigumi passion. <3
I echo the sentiments of those who've posted. This is a truly beautiful review (though you do need to do an edit sweep! Couple of typos, nothing big), and if anything it's made me want this show even more
( ... )
Hahaha. My entire idea about God has been shaped by the movie Dogma, so I understand your point completely. I don't think there's anything wrong with it either - sometimes a piece of art just touches upon everything that our souls crave... that we cannot not love it. It's what art does, isn't it? ♥
Went over the piece again this morning. A little fewer mistakes this time, I hope - so I'm off to posting it in takarazuka.
First, please, write fanfiction as much as you want, I will read all of them. Second, I have to admit that I'm happy that the only other actresses who ever got to play these roles are Kaname and Nacchan. You know how I feel about them and I think you have an idea how much this stage means to me. More than any other Takarazuka ever put on stage, I believe. Third, the gay guy is Daigo Seshiru. She reminds me a lot of Komu. She's not as much of a dancer as Komu and she replaced being cold with being bold. But except of that they are quite alike.
Apart from that, I can't really add anything. Thank you for the wonderful review.
I'm not adding just for reading purposes, so please tell me if you are still interested in that case and tell me a little about who you are, then I think I am interested in adding you back. ;) But beware, the review is quite old, from the time I went to see the stage myself.
Do vast amounts of envy regarding the fact that you got to see it live count? No, I'm always interesting in reading any & everything written by other 'Zuka fans, considering I'm relatively new to the fandom m'self. As for about me? Well, the basics are on my userinfo, but suffice to say I know far too much about western (specifically American) musical theatre, have far too much interest in Takarazuka, and blame maleroleactress for this entire obsession....

Let's enjoy the play instead. It's there to enjoy and since we both love the themes... ♥ Thanks for watching it with me.

And I will go read your thoughts on the matter soon! Doctor's appointment first, though.
