To be fair, a lot of guilding in wow is for accomplishment purposes... ie., being on your own can only get you so far in the game and without joining a competent guild you cannot complete a lot of the endgame.

So that being said, I joined a guild and used them for my own ends and it was satisfying. For an introvert a guild is pretty cool because you can log on when you want, type to a bunch of people you will never meet in real life, act witty and cool the way you never could in real life, and then log off and get on with your day. A lot of them are also introverts ... my guild leader was a very charming guy online, but offline lived with his parents & couldn't get a job, was very shy outside the game. So it's almost like they understand you in a way. Anyway, tangential. I would classify you as a sociable introvert, personally ... someone who intensely enjoys contact w/other people but doesn't necessarily need it or seek it out. y/y?

I rather prefer the idea of myself as a social introvert to alienated extrovert, which I've been thinking myself to be for almost 30 years now... Everyone always told me I was an extrovert because I was a performer, but when I think about my childhood even when I was popular before we left Madison, I realize I mostly played alone and was happy that way. But everyone always told me I was an extrovert. It's a huge revelation...
