Two weeks ago I developed "whiplash" and last weekend I started sneezing and coughing. By Wednesday my asthma had come out to play and this morning I awoke with viral conjunctivitis

She is. He is. I saw her interviewed from a hospital bed last night...they're both okay.

I didn't know anything about this. I've been keeping up with what's been going on through the SMH and The Age. I'm glad they're fine.

I hope you get better too as well. My mum has asthma too and she swears by burning myrhh and/or lime oil. She says it helps her breathe better. I dunno if it's all in her head but it might be worth a try. Take care.

As for news post-hurricane, I have been taking a deep breath, tuning in to Fox and CNN and trying to suppress little urges to throw tomatoes at some of the reporters/newsreaders.

Yikes! Not Fox, that's just...there are no words. But I guess it's better than here. Apparently it hasn't even made a blip on the radar of Japanese news. They're more concerned about the election coming up.

And mum swears by the oil burning thingy. I just wish my memory wasn't so shot and I could remember which one she uses.

I did see on some report or other that Japan has promised half a million (US$) to the relief effort. At least little Johnny has committed a decentish total. Half a million is just embarrassing - though on second thoughts you did mention upcoming elections so there may be an issue with committing significant funds during the 'caretaker' stage.

It amazes me how courageous some people can be under such awful circumstances.
