I'm going to come back, after re-reading, and give you all of my favorite bits, but I wanted to let you know that this is glorious and painful and brutally beautiful. You've told the story the hard way, without shortcuts or convenient plot devices.

A masterwork that I'll come back to again and again.

Brava!

Eeee, thank you! :D I'm so glad you liked it! (And I'd love to know what your favorite bits were!) Diana is fun to write, and I love exploring her relationship with Neal.

I'm speechless... so touched and moved that I'm not really sure what to say. It was hard, and emotional and damn good. So damn good.

Wowie! I so much love how you took the little they gave us in canon and gave us fully fleshed chars where everything makes sense. This goes straight into my head canon. The parallels between Neal and Diana, and also Diana and Peter, her coming back to DC because she couldn't stand letting the bad guys get away with it, and excusing tampering with evidence for the better good, and how much she's acting like Neal. On the other hand, Diana almost shooting Neal (and what she had to do later to protect him) and her concern for his well-being, and how much she understands him. And I love how they're having these deep discussions without really having them.

Thank you so much! I love writing people talking about things without really talking about them, so I'm glad that worked! :) And there are a lot of parallels, there, that are fun to explore. Neal&Diana are a lot of fun to write together. I'm so glad you liked it!

Your Diana is perfect: the right combination of tough and compassionate, with sparks of anger but mostly understanding. Every paragraph rang true, no matter who she was dealing with. Charlie seemed dead on; I know we never really saw him, but now we see him through Diana's eyes.

Fine work on the other characters as well.

Possibly the best portrayal of Diana I've read.

Oh, thank you so much! :D I love Diana, and I love how she relates to Neal, and everyone else - I've always wanted to explore her POV here.

I'm so glad you like it!

This was so beautiful. I love the relationship between Neal and Diana. She may be tough love and will put the smack down in a heart beat (or break both his arms!) but she does get him. Showing all the scenes in between was just gorgeous, especially tying it all to how she felt about Charlie throughout the years.

They have such a wonderful relationship! She really does understand him, here, even when she's angry. I'm so glad you liked it! Thank you! :D
