Oh, interesting! When you say it like that, given the wizarding world's conservatism and fears, it seems inevitable that that's how it would be. I very much like the idea that Eileen would have known what her son would have to face, and would have worked to prepare him. Severus certainly would have learned!

Thank you for this glimpse of the young Severus, calculating and desirous - with no failures of judgement behind him yet.

I think the typo is mine (sorry!) in converting html to text in a file on my hard drive, when I downloaded the fic.
