Hey! Thank you so much. Okay, so this is going to sound weird, but it's based on where I live. I have no idea if this is done or able to be done in France, but I thought I'd ask.
Question 1: Is there a way for someone who isn't legally able to work in France, to get a job? Kind of paid 'under the table'?
Question 2: If yes, do you know what kinds of jobs these are? Where I am, there are lots of men who work manual labor jobs. That's what I'm looking for, in Paris in particular.
Question 3: If yes to 1, where in Paris might one go (if you know... these are very odd and specific questions, I know!) to find such a job?
1. Yes, many ways, and definitely paid under the table.
2. Restaurant jobs (kitchen, not dining room), cleaning, building, warehouses... Jobs not in contact with the public, often night jobs, paid on a task basis. Of course, prostitution, for boys as for girls.
3. Where you go depends on who you are. Your character is certainly a stranger - if he were French, he could work legally. So I'd say go to places where your kind lives - if you're African or an Arab, it's the 18e behind and around the Sacré Coeur, or the 19th. If you're from East Asia, it's the 13th arrondissement or Belleville in the 19th. If you're a Turk or East-European, the Gare de l'Est neighbourhood and 10th in general. The Marais (4th) used to be Ashkenaze, but now it's mostly for tourists and gays.
I hope it helps, and don't hesitate to ask again if you want more details.
Hi! Okay, I'm getting back around to working on my story. my character is actually MAGICAL, so, what do you suggest? Which place would make the most sense? I guess that's hard to figure, but he's magical from England, so..... I want him to be doing something very physical, like construction/building.
