Chips sleeps like a narcoleptic log. Lu, who doesn't like being watched while asleep, has taken over the tiny annex bedroom and gone into standby or whatever the hell it is she does.

Thus it is left to Steve, blinking and manouvering a dressing-gown sleeve over his metal arm, to answer the door.

"Yeah. No word on what happened to Chainsaw, but I wouldn't worry. Downsiders're pretty tough. I doubt anybody in that city can make a serious impression on him."

"Anyway, thing is, now Roy's door opens out of a janitor's closet in the middle of Insinuous' jail. That might give us a bit of an edge. So everybody's having a combination council of war, breakfast, and argument down in Satya's room. They sent me to come get you guys."
