Life and Death Problems by flonnebonne
Hikaru no Go/Ender's Game crossover, Touya, Shindou, Waya, 2227 words, G, no obvious spoilers for either series.
A sequel to my fic Hikaru's Game. Won't make much sense if you haven't read that fic.

Touya turned on his desk and found a life and death problem waiting for him. )

fanfic, hikaru no go, ender's game

This is amazing; I never imagined a sequel to Hikaru's Game would exist but I am so glad it does. Also, this whole concept of taking the Giant's Drink into life-and-death problems being sent to Touya is brilliant.

(Consider linking on Dreamwidth hikarunogo community? Or I can do it for you?)

*cough* You know, I wasn't even thinking of the Giant's Drink when I wrote the fic. I was thinking of Jane, though, who was born from the Fantasy Game AI, so in a way it's the same thing.

I'll link to it on Dreamwidth! I am lazy, but not so lazy that I'd ask you to do it for me. :)

Oh wait, I did think of the Giant's Drink! Duh, that's where the PLAY AGAIN? line is from. Yes yes yes I am obviously sleep-deprived, I just left water boiling unattended on the stove just now too. :(

Hee, no worries. And the Giant's Drink was part of the fantasy game AI, so it all amounts to the same thing.

Speaking of which, have you heard about the Ender's Game movie? Apparently they've cast Harrison Ford as Col. Graff and Ben Kingsley as Mazer Rackham.

WHAT IS THIS GLORY. MY HAPPINES, IT KNOW NO BOUNDS.

I BELIEVE I CAME A LITTLE WHEN I SAW THIS UPDATE POP UP IN MY RSS FEED. (No, seriously, i did like a longish shudder and let out a little sigh; my dad gave me a Look, even!)

HOW DID I NOT COMMENT ON HIKARU'S GAME. I COULD HAVE SWORN I DID. BECAUSE IT'S THE LOVE-CHILD OF MY TWO FAVOURITE STORIES. EVERY TIME I READ IT IS LIKE CEREBRAL ORGASM.

I LOVE THE HnG FANDOM. LOVE IT.

I'm both happy and somewhat leery that you've started writing so much again. You're getting my hopes up for no reason, aren't you? I'm on to you ( ... )

I don't think I say it enough, but I really love getting such long, detailed reviews from you. It makes me feel like spending my time on writing is worth it. Thank you. :D ( ... )

I'd write even longer reviews if your writing didn't reduce me to a blubbering pile of worshiping goo. And I mean it-- a lot of times your writing is so good that I can't really say anything other than "What the fuck how did you do that?" And so a lot of things I write about your fics. are super general. It's like any good artwork frankly, there's only so many adjectives I can use that are universal (great, good, etc. etc.) before I'm forced to delve into personal things I like about your writing. I hate doing that though, because all experiences should be unique and I don't like influencing the writer by telling them what I like unless I find something INCREDIBLE, but rather what I don't so the writer can get better. But I have to break that rule with you a lot because your writing is already top-shelf and I want you to know that yes, your writing is fucking good and yes, I'm generally left satisfied whenever I read something from you ( ... )

Eh? I find your reviews wonderfully specific a lot of the time, actually! You usually point out lines that you like and tell me why very clearly. Giving specific reviews is a LOT of work, and you always do it, which I can't express enough appreciation for. I think there's nothing wrong with telling an author your personal response--in fact, I think that's what authors want. The most powerful reviews I've read have usually had something deeply personal in them. (I'm actually thinking of these Ender's Game fan letters that Card included in the introduction to one of the newer editions of the book. They were from people who were uniquely positioned to comment on the book--a gifted kid, someone in the military, and maybe one other ( ... )

I just read this and Hikaru's Game for the first time and wow, I loved them both. Really awesome blending of the two canons that makes perfect sense.

Yay, thank you! I love that there are so many people out there who love both Hikago and Ender's Game, two of my favourite stories in the world. :D

Amazing crossoevers. I just read these both for the first time, and it's kind of stunning how well they work. It's been ages since I read the Ender books, but these really brought them back, quite vividly. While still being totally true to Hikago... Beautiful writing, thanks for the read.
