Technical difficulties because I do not know how to use these fancy ipod things

My aunt gave me one of those tiny 2nd gen (?) ipod shuffles a couple years ago (I think she got it for free from signing up for something). At the time I fiddled with the software a bit, tried to make it into a drag-and-drop device (because there's no way I'm going to use itunes for a 1GB player), but I never succeeded. Yamipod worked _beautifully_ with a 2nd gen iPod. Not quite 100% drag-and-drop, as you need to use the program, but you can drag and drop into the program.

Excellent, I will try Yamipod out. I'm guessing there isn't a program that can make an ipod purely drag-and-drop...not without some kind of drawback, at any rate.

I'm pretty sure it's something you need to turn on in iTunes (enable manual something something something), after which you can drag and drop stuff onto it like a memory stick.

I'd prefer to avoid itunes altogether though...it makes my old crappy 512MB RAM laptop cry. I'ma gonna try out Yamipod, the program Ai suggested.

But it's not like you need to constantly use iTunes? It's just the one time, to turn on the thing.
