More Grocery Store Adventures

Nov 24, 2003 23:06

I was at the grocery store again today, and there was a young woman who was shopping there as well who had absolutely no qualms about talking to herself. Although and one time, I caught her quickly looking over her shoulder while saying something as if she wanted to see to someone's reaction behind her. No one was there, but I looked too to see ( Read more... )

Hahaha. I'm starting to think you'd get a crush on ME if you and I ran into each other at the supermarket! Both going around the aisles and walking to the bus stop, I find myself having conversations in my head almost constantly, and then I suddenly stop and think to myself, "God I hope I wasn't just saying that out loud". People are always to polite to let you know if you were, but I'm seriously not convinced that my inner dialogue does always stay inner.

I get really bad when I'm walking the dog. I think the neighborhood thinks I'm the block's local loon. I try to look at him a lot as if I'm talking to him so that it doesn't look that bad, but I'm not sure that helps.

I liked how she didn't seem to care who noticed though.

And pfft. Who don't I have a crush on? If you're worried about that, you're already in trouble. ;)

Yep, pets are always a great excuse. I know I have out loud conversations with Grace (the cat) and I totally know I'm considered the neighbourhood loon!

Yes, I think it's the genuine loons that seemingly don't care who notices, but I also suspect that that is because they are totally unaware that they actually do it. The fact that we think we might probably puts us in the safe basket. That's what I tell myself anyway, though whether I tell myself in my head or outside of it is still open to debate ; )

Awww *blush*. And you know we all have a crush on you too :D

There is something really attractive though of just letting it all go and becoming completely and utterly oblivious to world while going about your own kooky business. It's kind of the same with homeless people too in that they are completely out of all the madness of everyday schmoe life and don't have to worry about bills or worry about whether they have to be anywhere at any time. But no life is always completely better than the next, I suppose.

*plays Twilight Zone theme song*

Maybe her friend wasn't invisible to her......
Or maybe, her friend was perfectly visible to everyone except for you....

*goes back to talking to the monitor*

Aww shoot. I should of talked to her friend and learned how to become invisible. That would really come in handy a lot of times!

Those darn bushes are pretty itchy. ;)

If kids squirted out, we'd probably not even notice they were there.

You think rather far ahead.

Hmmm...that's a new one! I talk to myself *a lot*, and I even have multi-sided conversations with myself. But I have never addressed the air as an imaginary friend. Well, not since I was very little :)

In public, I usually continue the self-conversation, but I try to talk without moving my lips in a sort of a mumble. I have thought several times about getting a cell phone so that I could put it up to my ear--turned off, of course--and talk to my heart's content.

Lol. I've done the try not to move your lips thing too! The cell phone is a good idea, but it won't be much longer before they have them where you just wear it as an ear peice, and then the rest of us can talk to our imaginary friends freely without any worry! :)

Oh my gosh I bet you are right! That would be so cool. There will be total freedom for imaginary friend talking! Freedom!
