This was a great tale from your past, and you wrote it very well. I'm sure your parents wished you were better friends with your sister growing up, but that's something that can't be forced. She would have been happy to see how close you've become as adults.

It's so nice that you've become so close to your sister, and yes-- your siblings are the only ones who understand what it's like to lose a parent, or what it was like to grow up in your family. Those memories are richer because they are shared. I'm often surprised by things my younger sister remembers that I'd forgotten about-- she's the keeper of more of my past than I would have expected!
