That's awesome! It will certainly be nice to be able to study Austrian economics, too; I used to assume that all economists were at least closet libertarians, but interacting with college level econ instructors has proven that this is not the case at all, and that in fact it's harder to find a lib-leaning econ department. So w00t indeed!

Thanks everybody!

I think economists are generally more libertarian than the public merely because of the prevalence of misunderstanding of the effects of government intervention in things like price controls and tariffs. But there's still a broad spectrum, and yes, it's hard to find a lib-leaning econ department.

Very cool!

From my perch in the nosebleed seats of the libertarian public policy world, it looks like a master's degree is a good way to go. Not that a PhD is bad, of course, but the time argument makes sense. I've gotten the impression that the name on your diploma does matter (though I'm not sure how much, or which names are good) so it's probably worth investigating and applying to a selection of schools, just to make sure that you're going to a place that wlil serve you best career-wise.

Oh, and you should read Tim's DMCA paper; it's good!

Thanks. Yeah, I haven't finalized a decision. The fact that I haven't yet taken or even prepared for the GRE kinda complicates things.

Yeah, I plan to, as I liked what I read so far.
