It's me giving up my control, not you taking it... What I give up freely I can regain at any time... he understood now: that give and take was what he’d been looking for. He could feed these darker urges and still be himself.Alex works it all out: puts into words what he wants, and immediately starts thinking of making a functional synthesis between the two conflicting sides of himself. Lol. I'll say it's still early days yet for them, but I do think that Matt is learning (unhappily, reluctantly) that Alex can't be controlled to that degree. Blows to the head though, not a bad idea.... ;-)

I can always trust you to hold nothing back in reviewing Matt's actions. *grin* Obviously everyone is free to interpret the characters' behavior in their own way, but I thought I'd bring up the argument that Matt acknowledging that their society's normal methods for dealing with slaves are ineffective (at the very least in Alex's case, if not in general) is a step forward at least. As is him not physically punishing Alex.
He also seems to think he can swap out the visceral gratification of taking revenge on the slave that has defied him, in favour of gaining control over the part of Alex that he feels he does not yet possess. As though he gets to change the punishment that Alex has offered him; as though his obsession with control should somehow trump Alex's desperate ( ... )
