I MIGHT be going there, yeah. XD I haven't officially applied yet, once I know my schedule I'm going to set up an interview with the assistant director of admissions so we can talk about the program and financial aid and such. There's a couple other Seattle colleges I'm also looking at.
Got to say though, the Art Institute's audio program does look pretty robust. The website says that they prepare students to take entry-level jobs in the field as soon as they graduate, and the director said several of the students are actually already working.
That's AWESOME! What sorts of things are you looking at--mixing for music, sound design for movies? I've got a few theatre/film connections that I could probably hook you up with once you knew the basics and wanted to observe what real-world settings are like.
I'm doing fairly well recovering from the accident--my insurance is paying for three chiropractor's appointments and one massage therapy session a week, which is really nice. My injuries were a little worse than I originally thought--some ligament damage in my neck (trying to hold up something not unlike a bowling ball during a t-bone collision didn't help matters), and the intercostals (tissue between my ribs) on my left side are still pretty unhappy. That said, I'm feeling much better than I was a couple days after the accident happened, so, progress. :)
The other good news is that I got the go-ahead from my chiropractor to complete my make-up clinical day, so as of Friday, I'm a certified nursing assistant. No news back about any interviews yet, but I'm hopeful.
To be honestly I haven't yet decided exactly what career path I want to take. I've been looking at the options available and they all sound really interesting! I'll probably end up gravitating towards movies and cartoons because part of me still wants to do the voice acting thing, but I know that it's going to be really difficult as a transguy. Learning how to do things on the other side of the sound booth gives me more options. But on the other hand I have been getting really interested in techno and hip hop over the past couple of years. At this point I just want to start soaking up knowledge and see what catches my interest. One of the things that makes me like the Art Institute is that it offers a lot of real world training; apparently several of the students currently in the program are already working in their chosen field. That said I would totally like to meet anyone you happen to know once I have the basics down. XD Thank you

And I'm pretty sure an art school isn't going to have a problem with its prospective students not totally knowing their schedules. xD
