One morning, I was sitting at my home computer, checking my email before I headed off to work. I have a tendency to sit on my foot so of course when I went to stand, my foot was asleep. Stepping on it usually wakes it up, so I decided to try that. Don't ask me why, but I wound up putting all my weight on it; I blame the fact that it was 7:30 am.
Down I went. Had to call work and be all, "Um, I think I just broke my ankle" and then had to call the doctor's office to get an appointment and X-rays. It turned out to be just a sprain, but I was on crutches for a week and was in an Aircast for another two or three after that.
Need I remind you I work in Client Services? So every time someone came in, I had to explain why I was on crutches? And if I knew them well enough, I actually told them the whole story, not just the condensed, "Sprained my ankle" explanation.
To this day, whenever someone says their foot is asleep, I chime in with, "Whatever you do, don't step on it!"
