In two years time (October 2017) banks will be processing images of cheques as this was one of the provisions of the Small Business, Enterprise and Employment Bill that passed in March. Some banks may move quicker, for example, Barclays ran a pilot this summer but only for paying Barclays cheques into Barclays accounts. See: http://www.tallgroup.co.uk/news/what-is-cheque-imaging/

I need the full address of "my branch" for every non-US bank account I have access to, to file every year with the IRS. What fun. That's mostly why I need those. I am bemused at the existence of "local" branches which are, residually, a long ways away from where I currently live.
