It wasn't like Jack had thoroughly thought out a second date, but being the man that he was, the usual plans of charming and wooing just seemed to easily come to him. Thankfully, it had meant that with quite little notice, he could get ready for a night out with a fine lady and not have to worry at all about the night ahead. Sarah Jane was late. It was a given when she checked her wristwatch before leaving the TARDIS, noticing that the minutes hand was already ten minutes passed the agreed upon time. But the heels on the boots she was wearing weren't exactly made for running. Only for very fast walking.

It was her own fault, she supposed. For last minute doubts and waiting for the Doctor to have slipped out before leaving. And for the time she had spent fixing her hair and makeup.

Finally, already fifteen minutes late, a woman comes rushing towards the Mermaid Quay, dressed in a short but flattering floral print skirt and a pink peasant top blouse.

Jack had hardly moved in those fifteen minutes, still having an arm draped across the back of the bench and taking up more than enough space so that couples would avoid sitting by him. Not that he didn't appreciate watching loving couples, just not tonight.

Sarah's lone figure was noticed by the Captain, but not immediately acted upon. It was only once she drew closer that he rose from his seat with a grin, walking towards her to save her the entire approach, and looking her over in a not at all subtle manner.

"Wow, you look great!" He said in replacement of a greeting, reaching for a hand to kiss to pull off his whole gentleman act. Jack wasn't dressed too bad himself, doing away with his never changing uniform in favour of a nicely tailored and very old fashioned suit and tie, and his hair far more styled than normal.

"Oh, you don't look so bad yourself," Sarah replied as he kissed her hand, smiling at him. She settled for a small kiss on his cheek before looking him over and nodding. "Rather dashing, I'd say. The old fashioned look suits you."

"Hey, I'll be dishing out the compliments this evening, not you," he responded affectionately, smiling widely as he tucked a hand in his pocket, elbow pointing out and offering his arm to her.

"So, a bar didn't really take my fancy, so I thought we'd go for something a little different. I did promise you the stars, after all."
