I guess you are referring to CCS movie 1 for the trip to Hong Kong. Sakura can draw the first prize to spend winter vacation there is NOT because of her good luck. This is the concept of "hitsuzen" in there. Remembered when she "put" her hand in the drawing box, she sort of hit a "magic boundary" and then suddenly the "golden first prize ball" just came out from the pile and reached her hand!! That IS an arrange thing from that lady in Hong Kong. She is tracking down the person who is "utilizing" Clow Reed Magic and thought that this will allow her to meet with Clow Reed. Going to Hong Kong is not a LUCK matter, is an inevitable thing set up by that lady!!
Also pointing out "sakura's good luck" in CCS, kero actually remarks afterwards that this is unusual for her since Sakura does not have good luck. So, sorry to cut down one of your theories but that one doesn't work. But the catch between both of them being sleepy was pretty good though.
Don't be sorry! I actually really like your comments :D And I was not sure for CCS good luck since I vaguely remember that Kero said that Sakura was not lucky. Your hitsuzen theory is very good :D Hehe, I can't always make perfect parallels since the two stories are different after all !!
