Fwd: PERSONALITY ANALYSIS: Suitable Characteristics for Academic Tracks, Based on Meta-Data and Field Success.

CIVILIAN
Inappropriate for Enlistment at the Current Time

An interviewee for whom this is the most suitable conclusion will essentially have their application rejected. This can occur for a number of reasons, but two of the most common are emotional immaturity and a disregard for authority.

Emotional immaturity is inappropriate for Starfleet due to the extreme emotional pressures of crisis situations, as well as the high responsibility inherent in active duty. Immaturity can be recognised in a number of ways, but most frequently through the articulation and expression of the interviewee. Slang, for example, is not appropriate for interview conditions. It should also be noted that recent events have caused a surge in applicants requesting to serve with Capt. James T. Kirk and/or Cmd. S’chn T’gai Spock. Applicants should recognise that there is far more to serving with Starfleet than the attractiveness of their superior officers and that such ‘fangirlism’ will not be tolerated.

A disregard for authority most often manifests as an insistence on a particular Academic Track. Whilst the applicant is asked for their opinion on this matter and their response is taken into account, it must be recognised that Starfleet members have far greater experience in these matters than the interviewee. As such, an applicant seen to be ‘pushing’ for a particular Track will be recognised as reluctant to defer to expertise. This is extraordinarily dangerous in a crisis situation, and is thus inappropriate for Starfleet.
