Topic 4: What I "Should" Care About But Don't

Nov 14, 2009 15:48

Apparently I should care about my weight. And don't get me wrong - I do. Being overweight is bad for your health, yada yada. And do I love how I look? No, I don't. But I've had to accept the fact that I'm not meant to be a small person. It's not particularly a negative thing. It just...is. I used to weigh much more than this. About two years ago, I ( Read more... )

I'm precisely the same in thinking. Yes, I'm overweight, but I'm also relatively healthy (still need to quit smoking, though). I'm a work in progress. Thank you, Mr. Jackson.

Yes. Work in progress. And nothing wrong with that.

Have you read my entry from last night yet? For some reason I'm eager to get your perspective on it. :)

Why should you care, as long as you're healthy and yourself? I'm pretty zen as well. Sure I could stand to lose a few pounds and it'd be nice to, but I don't really **need** to.

I'm on the same train of thought of yours, H. It sucks the whole weight issues and to be honest, I like myself much better when I'm thinner. It's not about others (it used to be, mind you), it's me. So, when I gain weight, I have my mind beating myself up twice. Not a good thing that, but at least, makes me to take some action and change things around.

And how is that when you stopped with the meds, you lost weight?! It usually works the other way around...

It can go either way depending on the drug and the individual.

I know for me...the meds sorta made me not care about my weight at all. And I ate a LOT. So it was a combination of not physically wanting to eat as much, and being in a mentally different place where I became aware of just how much weight I'd gained.

For what it's worth, most people I know on antidepressants have gained weight. Significant amounts.

I did at first, but it wasn't much. I think there were just too many other things going on in my body, and it was maybe...5 or 10 lbs.
