No, you really don't. If you can see it then you're probably in danger. You're in Springfield, MO? Just give it time, you'll probably get a glimpse of one. Just remember to run for cover when you do.

springfield has lots of tornadoes i still havent seen one and i grew up in the south where we hardly had any soooo yeah
