L has temporarily chained Yagami-kun to Matsuda in a (possibly insipid) attempt to free himself for exactly four minutes of solitude.

As if he needed more proof that he was in desperate need of these two hundred and forty precious seconds, he finds himself thinking, as he draws the door shut behind him, that Yagami-kun chained to Matsuda is not at all an unattractive concept.

...he may be taking four minutes again tomorrow.

He has not managed to escape earshot fast enough.

"...not much of a looker, Light."

Sputtering, which is uncharacteristic. L pauses. To investigate, of course.

"Excuse me?" Light demands.

L is not imagining the way Light's eyes will darken as his brows draw close for a frown. Neither is he picturing the confrontational slant of Light's shoulders as he sets his arms akimbo for emphasis.

Matsuda makes a sound like a giggle. "You're blushing!" he announces, downright gleeful.

"I am not!"

"Now you're blushing more!"

"Matsuda, you're about five seconds away from getting strangled with this chain. Four.

P.S.
I know that A's a character, but is there any place I can go to see what he's like? I'm not sure if Ohba fleshed him out, but I'm pretty sure that fans did (as with Matt). Or could someone just give me a summary of what he's like? The Novel didn't give specifics.

A is barely described at all in Another Note -- I believe all that we get to know about him is that he killed himself, and they don't even specify the method. :)

(.../smiley abuse O_o)

Basically, he gets even less time than Matt, which is excellent in that it frees people up to do a lot of different things with his character. :D

Valentine’s Day was just like any other day for Near as he sat in the corner of the play room, still being ignored by everyone and treating them likewise. It didn’t matter that most of the instructors had a severe distaste of the Holiday, most being unmarried, and that the majority of the children knew of its pointlessness, though, because the entire orphanage was draped in pink and red decorations celebrating this day for love that Linda had presumably enlisted the help to apply during the night. The whole house was alight will squeals of joy and giggles and everyone seemed to have a significant other that they hadn’t had they day before, and would most likely lose the next day
