Practising my scales while BBC4 talks to itself in the background and then it is the ISIS or whatever it's called this week, knocking down statues, sculptures and buildings that had been there for the best part of four thousand years -and then I turn the volume up to hear some East London man praising these actions as 'destroying idolatry'. I struggle with understanding how people could do this, could video torture and murder as well. How is it ever going to end - people who have done these things have stepped outside humanity, are they really just going to go home and get a job in tesco when ISIS is defeated?  It's the most apalling thing I've seen and I don't know how to process it ..

I don't agree with the notion that one gives up one's free will to a voice in ones' head to visit one's misery upon others. That is ignorance and prejudice and it is a choice. Claiming fundamental faith as an excuse for bad decisions is mere semantics as belief too is something we choose. Unlike other idiots I follow a more shamanistic tradition in that we have many voices in our heads and I believe in listening to all them whenever possible. What I don't do is listen to one voice claiming it to be divine above all others and follow it's demands however inhuman they may be.
