The Maltese Falcon (1941)

As Joe and I were watching the first episode of the new AMC series Monsieur Spade, we realized that we should re-watch The Maltese Falcon before watching the second episode. Joe remembered a lot more of the details (like who Brigid O'Shaughnessy was) than I did, but then he'd also read the book by Dashiell Hammett. And we'd watched the movie many decades ago, in 6/77 and 2/82, according to our movie book notes. We rented and watched the movie again last night.

The movie had a wonderful cast (including Humphrey Bogart, Mary Astor, Sydney Greenstreet and Peter Lorre) and excellent writing and cinematography. As Joe said, they don't make them like that any more.

tv, movies, books
