A Song of Comfortable Chairs: No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency (23)

I just finished A Song of Comfortable Chairs, the latest No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency book by Alexander McCall Smith. It was a relaxing read, as usual.

Highlights:

  • Mma Makutsi now had a driving licence, but preferred not to drive because of the difficulty she experienced in driving on the left side of the road rather than in the middle, which to her seemed safer.
  • I had to look up several words: timeously, emollient and comity
  • The entourage for the photo shoot: Mma Ramotswe, Mma Makutsi, Charlie and Fanwell; Mma Potokwane, her assistant with her brother and his fiancée; Mma Bopa, the housemother, who was accompanied by her sister-in-law, her sister-in-law’s brother, and her sister-in-law’s brother’s daughter; Mma Potokwane's hairdresser, known for her braiding skills, and the woman who made the staff tunics at the Orphan Farm
  • Charlie, about the famous boxer Lesibo Modisane: We are very close, Mma Makutsi. He is the cousin of my brother-in-law’s wife’s cousin. We are that close.
