Shaky Cameras Are Not My Friends

Oct 24, 2012 22:57

I haven't seen 8x04 yet. Shaky camera footage gives me motion sickness. I want to watch it, but not if the entire episode is filmed without a steady cam. So, people reading this: can you tell me how much of 8x04 is filmed with shaky cameras? If it's 30% or less, I can watch it; if not, this will be the first time I have to skip a Supernatural ( Read more... )

There's a lot of it, sorry. Although it could easily turn out to be one of those instances where it feels like "practically all of it" was shaky, when in reality there wasn't actually as much as it felt like. If that makes sense?

But I'd say maybe about half of it? Conservatively.

Thanks. That's disappointing, though better than I was expecting.

I think the easiest way to explain it is that 90% is done on a handy cam. Now, sometimes those handy cams are stationary, but the quality is never great and there is constant instances of the camera shaking unexpectedly. So, as said above, its about 50/50.

I'd hate to miss an episode, so I'd never suggest you should, but health is health!

I don't mind low quality videos, so I'd have no trouble watching the stationary bits. Moments where the camera shakes unexpectedly or constantly are what would give me headaches and make my stomach upset. Thanks for telling me what to expect. It sounds like something I should avoid, unfortunately.

I'm the same way, but for some reason I didn't get nauseous watching this. Try a few minutes of it and see how it feels, you never know.

Huh. Well, you've given me a shred of hope. I might give it a try, though I haven't convinced myself to just yet.

Late last week, I listened to the ep while I worked on other things, and I glanced quickly at the video every few seconds, but sometimes that was too much. It *sounded* like a good episode, so at least I got the audio experience. Thanks for your help, y'all.

At least 8x04 was a standalone ep, and 8x05 was filmed normally and was much more enjoyable :).
