Wow. I am seriously impressed by your grasp of continuity (not something I say often) and how well you wove it seamlessly into the story. And the story is very well written, it gave me chills.

Just one question out of nosey curiosity: why Ben instead of Clyde? (I wondered the same thing about that episode)

Hands down my favourite fic I've read in a while!

As a power-wikiing Johnny-come-lately on a budget, this is extremely gratifying to hear, thank you!

As far as I can tell, Ben is meant to be the DCAU version of Clyde--he's the one who builds the weather technology intending to use it for good and so on (though now I'm imagining all three in one continuity, with all of them harboring weatherly ambitions and with Mark as the disgruntled middle child). This fic is grounded in the animated canon, or at least that's the springboard, so I went with Ben. Also, unlike Clyde, he's still alive at the end of the episode--though he has to deal with the fact that, unlike the DCU's "he was dead when I got there no really", his brother definitely tried to kill him--and I wanted to play with that a bit.

Ah, that makes sense -- good choice.

Wow, this was impressive on so many levels -- characterization, emotion, plot, continuity. I agree that this is the best fic that I've read in this fandom. And I mean EVER.

Thanks, and I definitely intend to write more! There's still reporters to rescue, and jails to break, and wardens to pound on. Whether I'll be able to keep it up at this level remains to be seen, but I'll do my best.

Another amazingly detailed chapter. I love all the back history, especially Owen's and I definitely want to read more.

Wow. Now that you've appeared I feel secure admitting it was your fic with Trickster that I mentioned in the author's notes, so your affirmation gives me an extra boost of warm fuzzies. Thank you!

Agreed about the massive ficcability of the Justice Lords--canon doesn't even say what happened to them after they were finally zapped, to say nothing of what happened to that "better world," so there's a lot of canvas to play with.

I had serious issues with Identity Crisis, but one thing I liked about it was the subplot with Boomer and Owen, which is where I got elements like Owen first manifesting superspeed to save his father's life.

I hope the next installments work as well for you (whenever I actually finish them)!

I'm glad to hear I inspired you in any way. I've considered writing more about the Justice Lords universe but I've never had the time. All of the DC villains would be affected and I'm sure there would be heroes who would disagree with their new methods as well. It's an interesting concept especially since they're so convinced that it's for the best for them to take over.

But I'm glad you're writing this and I look forward to more.
