Nostalgia mixed with the crack can be dangerous. Also, hilarious.

Is it just me, or are we all still riding the high of a new concert, new single, new TV shows, and the Arashi 65 hour marathon on NTV? I like to think that in some small way, fandom is being compensated for the lack of Shukudai. Or something like that, anyway. ^^;

Speaking of things past, it was lockability's birthday this week, and what better way to ( Read more... )

birthdays, clearly i need more sleep, arashi, picspammage, picwar, costume badness, crackdom, locky is awesome!

oh god those costumes. I regret to say I am, indeed, getting used to them, which is not a good thing. I`ll end up buying sparkly colourfull stuff myself.

But oh seriously, those outfits.

And have a nice weekend!!! ^^ I still have studying, homework, and several other things to do..........which is ofcourse why I`m here commenting XD

*is still considering to buy a concert dvd, if only it weren`t for the fact that they`re expensive beyond belief.* over 5500 yen for a concert? I can buy almost 3 pairs of trousers for that money at the uniqlo T_T . Which I will do at one point XD Soon.....

I know--you do get used to the sparkly, and it does invade one's wardrobe. I bought shoes last summer with sequins--covering every bit of them, and in bright blue ^^; I wore them yesterday. And I tried to order a dress that had rhinestones on it *___* Sadly, the dress got canceled. But I know that there is not a chance I would have bought either if this lamentable accustoming to eye-smarting and sparkly clothes hadn't happened.

But seriously, the more you look at these, the more insane and ridiculous they are, and yet . . . they're not unattractive **;; Even Jun's which I think is by far the most egregious . . . looks good on him, once you give up on taste.

And of course you're commenting when busy--I whouldn't even be near LJ right now--I have grading, prep, cleaning and paper writing for a conference to do >_< Therefore, I am posting ^^; and lord knows how long it will be before I get a chance to again--which probably means I'll be here again in under a week because I shouldn't be ( ... )

A while ago I saw these caps covered in sparkly-things and in different colours, and i was just debating getting one when my friends saw them and went "omg look at these, they`re horrible, why would anyone wear them" and I just....silently shuffled away XD ( ... )

*glees*

I believe I am going to do terrible things to my savings in Japan, I swear to you ^^; And I can't even find it in myself to feel bad about it. But yes, Japanese media prices seem to be a little high compared to others.

And really, one's taste is hijacked. I have found myself contemplating rainbow umbrellas (I am so buying it today), ladybug plates and backpacks, dresses with rhinestones (I actually ordered it and then the dealer ran out >_<), shoes with sequins (bought), and all manner of ridiculosity. I'm mostly ok with it though I have to remember that the rest of the world, including campus, has not been similarly indoctrinated . . . just today, I was contemplating a rainbow belt buckle and I have not entirely vetoed it in my brain ( ... )

Lately, we have been watching Arashi concerts with my Mom and so far she has not seen the more 'famous' of Arashi costume disasters (we let her watch AAA in Dome, TIME, AAA 2008 and 5x10).

I haven't seen How's it going so I think the impact of the wigs is sort of muted for me. Though I believe that after 10 years, their costume designers are slowly learning to tone down the feathers and the ruffles...

I'll choose the concert over work too ^_^

How's it Going has some really amazing costume decisions, and that's one of my major reasons for loving it so&hearts Interaction has not gelled yet, which I think is the major defining characteristic of Iza, but Iza is so overflowing with the Sakumiya that it's kind of out of control ( ... )

We let her watch AAA2008 first and she was greatly impressed with the moving stages, the fireworks,the balloons, the number of fans in the venue and the energy that Arashi has, running around Kokuritsu. I think she overlooked all the shiny on this.

She did not finish both AAA Dome and Time (so she did not see the green prom tulle costumes). I think with AAA2008 making a big impression, she found both to be more 'normal'

For 5x10, she did notice the transparent suits which she says looked like raincoats (we explained about the original Arashi costumes)

How is your ear?

I think she overlooked all the shiny on this.

Hee! Well, that concert is probably the generally least outrageous in terms of costume, so I guess that's not too surprising. Easing her into the crack might not be a terrible idea. Though Arashi and the crack kind of go together.

hmmm . . . the ear . . . my hearing is mostly back and the rushing sound has abated a lot. It aches in waves though, which is weird. I have another couple of weeks before I see the doctor again, and find out if I'll need a tube to fly . . . but it's so much better than before! Thanks for asking&hearts

I have always wondered which costume made it into Nino's bed as pajamas, and I sincerely believe you may have nailed it.

So...I was watching 5x10 DVD right? The Typhoon digest, right? And I was thinking to myself how amazing it was they got the typhoon in their 10th year and not before and then I kept imagining all the costume horrors of the past and how they would fair in a typhoon...and it wasn't pretty.

Oh, and I saw one of your comments somewhere the other day and the userpic wouldn't show, but the error message read: flange5 blew Ohno's mind. XD

That is the most awesome error message ever&hearts I put the real one up here, but I am now tempted to go through and change the names of each and every one of my . . . 100+ icons to have secret messages for when the errors happen ^^; of course, then I would never know which icon was which *__* This could also be sort of fun! Someday, I will do that random icon roulette option, but I always worry that some completely inappropriate icon will come up inadvertently ( ... )

Ahahaah awesome. Guess what? mousapelli's description of these outfits for AAA Taipei in a fic when the AAA dvd came out was what actually convinced me to download the concert, for a group I'd only heard of through her fic, and made me fall in love with Arashi. XDDD

<3 Hope you're doing well! *waves*

Is that the fic where Ohno really wants the blue, and guiltily arranges for Aiba's yellow and green costume to make up for it? I have to admit that that fic actually brought me more love for this costume, because every time I see this costume, I think of that fic.

. . . and if not that one, which fic is it, because I may have to go and run and read it! The fic that can actually make you run and DL a concert . . . must be pretty amazing ^_^

Also, I think of Locky eith these concerts, because she tried to argue me around to the utter awesomeness of these costumes, and as long as we don't include the wig, I'm actually on board now. This doesn't exempt them from mocking, because they are completely mock-worthy, but the mocking comes with sincere love.

And dude&hearts That is one of the best Arashi-baiting stories I've heard&hearts I really want to just watch concerts all day long today. And also, read favorite fics.

Yes, it totally is that fic. With Ohno thinking he'd look killer with the cool blue swooooosh of the costume, in the JE-trained lizard portions of his brain or something. That line, I'll have to look it up, because it tickled me so and was kind of the tipping point to go look for the source material, heheh.

Yeah, I wrote about how I got into Arashi (:p sidebar on my journal) and I was fic-baited by Ohno, actually. And then was hilariously surprised by his ridiculously non-hot expressions in various photoshoots. XDDD But yes, those outfits are amazingly mock-worthy. Especially Jun's Purple Monstrosity. :D

Man, everyone posting about concerts makes me really really really want to watch 5x10. ;_;

I am so going to have to find that fic again&hearts I remember it was really cute ^_^

And you know I'm going to have to check out your baiting story. It's kind of rare that Ohno's photoshoots are about hotness, but that's ok--we have his solo performances for that ^^;

The Purple Monstrosity is the perfect name for that. So much time, thought and loving detail put into something so deliciously wrong. It does show off his waist, though . . .

I need to rewatch 5x10, but you can also tell my desire to procrastinate right now, because I have this insane urge to take a Saturday and start early in the morning and watch all the con dvds from How's it Going to 5x10. I cannot tell you how popular that would be with the Boy ^^;

LOLs This was the concert I was watching when my brother walked into my room during the song with these costumes, saw what I was watching, then asked me why my eyes weren't bleeding because his were XD I told him that I'd been desensitized... though nowadays Arashi's costumes are a bit on the tamer side, I think.

ps have you received your 5x10 yet? I'm still waiting for mine...

flange5 April 18 2010, 13:40:10 UTC
I got mine last week&hearts But I'm sorry yours isn't in yet >_<

I can imagine that your brother was horrified. THough desensitization does happen, sadly. And I think you're right--the last two concerts have been rather tame in terms of costumes, though I do actually have a candidate for costume spam from the most recent, which makes me happy. I kind of wonder if part of the reason was that they were at Kokuritsu, and a certain decorum seems in order? Because god knows Time and DAL concerts laid on the crack. So I'm hoping it was that and not some sort of newfound maturity in the concert designers because I would cry just a little if we were never to have the . . . *__* moment in a concert again ^^;

Have a great weekend! Enjoy the rest of the birthday weekend&hearts
