My last set of icons felt personally appropriate and generally useful, so that new-icon-urge did not appear for awhile. However, it has been creeping up on me, and yesterday it appeared in full force. Thus, I have a new, exciting icon set! I'm very fond of my new default icon, the wizard Howl from the Diana Wynne Jones book & Miyazake movie Howl ( Read more... )

I think it's awesome! The fight scenes are amazingly cool, especially the ones involving large motorcycles and long swords. :)

I've heard from friends who actually played FFVII that the plot is disappointing in comparison to the game (my brother only got a PlayStation in time for me to play FFX), and the animation is not as realistic as Spirits Within. But still, I think it's awesome. :)

The fight scenes are very cool, as they're the only part of the movie I've watched. As a result, I have no idea of the plotline. I've also never played FFVII, so I don't know the characters at all, aside from my generic "these are characters you should know from games" geek knowledge.

Ah, right. Well then, you may not have any particular preconceptions that prevent you from enjoying the awesomeness of the movie. ;) Be prepared to watch it a couple times to understand the plot -- or to abbreviate the process, read some online summary. I vaguely knew Sephiroth and Cloud Strife were FFVII characters, from general geek knowledge as well, but Emery and I were fascinated but mystified the first time we saw it. 'Who's that? What is he talking about? Why's he doing that? Wasn't he dead?' That kinda stuff, heh. The plot exposition is...a little vague.

Heh -- I had to ask Fritz what the heck she was saying, the first time I saw that movie.
