digital video editing and cognitive dissonance

A month before Christmas, when I decided on Teh Sekrit Projekt of making an anime music video for Ghost for Christmas, I basically knew the barest essentials of how that worked and assumed that it would take a few weeks to learn how and make the first one (which would suck, as first attempts do) and that it would take me less time to do each ( Read more... )

It IS crazy challenging and insane at first if you're working in good programs, but I wonder if you have tried doing something in plain old Windows Movie Maker? It's, like, Vidding For Dummies. You can't do a lot of fancy schmancy stuff...basically you can arrange clips in order and do, maybe, three different effects...but it might restore your confidence to do something really simple?

I was using WMM at first, and it kept freezing up and crashing because I was trying to get it to edit a video in an approved format, but in an incompatible codec. Hence reading the manual.
