I started Henning Mankell's Faceless Killers because of how much I liked a certain other Swedish crime series, but . . . 150 pages in and I came to terms with the fact that I hated it. Which is a shame, because I actually did like the mystery but the actual writing (well, translation) and Kurt Wallander himself, nope. I rarely quit a book in the ( Read more... )

I'm totally addicted to the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld. And they're young adult books so they go fast.

I warn you... if you start, have all 4 cause they are like crack. They are keeping me up way too late at night. :)

I looked for those at the library, but they didn't have the first one. I'm curious about his newer series, too, Leviathan. Mmm steampunk.

Dude, my notifications failed me. Gave me everything else, but this. And I was wondering what books you'd picked up, too. Now, is Sylvia Plath in honor of the Dark Vault, or just because?

Me, as to books, nothing really that you don't already know about. I am going to start a massive world history text tonight, though. Because I am a total nerd.

(A nerd that reads history textbooks and says "dude.")

Sad! Your notifications are snubbing me. ;)

I'm on a bit of a Plath kick so I decided to just go with it.

Ooh, what's the text? That reminds me, I'm thinking of getting Bill Bryson's At Home (I've earned a free book with my store's frequent buyer program. At least my addiction problem is useful.) but I'm not sure yet--haven't read his other stuff, really.

(Like all the best nerds, dude.)

*flail* Boooooks! Yayayayayay.

Finally found this. Fail on inbox organization there.

The notification thing was my stupid ISP. That test email I sent you? I didn't get the reply back for two days. Fortunately, they fixed that little piece of IT wonderfulness.

Hm, sounds good to me.

It's Civilization Past and Present, I think. It's the book for my old uni's history course that I transferred out of. I wanted a good world history book, so I bought a used copy. I have discovered since beginning it that I love early history and Asian history. But Indian history creeps me out (weird, huh?) and Greek and Roman history bores me.

(Indeed!)

Books are awesome. 'Nuff said. -nods decisively-
