Self-indulgence.

This week marks the first meeting of Kurt and Blaine in Near Misses, and I keep thinking about it and smiling. It's self-indulgent, obviously, but for some reason it's making me both think about the future ahead of them and about the process of writing this fic and how far ahead in time it felt like I was writing ( Read more... )

Exactly right! :) In fic canon they still don't remember that meeting, although Blaine had a dim lightbulb of memory at the sight of Kurt wearing the same pin. I think at some point they'll remember when they have to set up the next activities fair in the fall.

I don't know that I ever specified the date, but in my mind they met Tuesday, so yesterday.

That is sort of extraordinary, the combination of fiction and dates, to have a week which was previously in the future and now is now. And to have them meet in it. Must be time to re-read. Yay. So it's not a self indulgence if other people are excited too.

Yeah, it's kind of odd but fun to think about. I remember spending a lot of time in my calendar looking at the dates at the end of the fic, because it matters when Valentine's Day is for how the plot is moving (and then the Alliance dance is the next weekend with the big fight out on the dark walkway by the Union), and it felt so far ahead. And here we are at the start of the story! In my head, they met out on the quad yesterday. :)

Aw, thanks for encouraging the now not-an-indulgence!

So you are planning to write more in that 'verse? Happy to hear that - I was going to ask about that.

Travelling is lovely, but it does interfere with writing. I'm still struggling to catch up with my blogs after an intense summer myself, and I can't even think about writing fiction.

Yes! I got to a good place at the end of Twenty-Three Firsts, but I have a big story I want to tell about the upcoming summer. I'd planned on writing it this summer... but I ended up going on something like seven or eight trips over the span of two months instead.

I hope things settle down for you so that you can work on whatever is most important to you. :)

This was a lovely story, and I'm happy to hear that there may be other contributions to the 'verse.

Thank you! I may be paving the road to somewhere with my good intentions, but it's certainly my plan to write more. :)

Actually, now that you write it (and as always, I'm SO late), I was waiting in NM for that moment when Kurt and Blaine would realize they met before the dance. It never came and it never bothered me but I think it'd be lovely they remembered. Beginings can be simple, ordinary and seem unimportant but they are where everything started, right?
Hope you're having an amazing day (;

I think they WILL work it out and remember at some point, probably in the fall when they are setting up the schedule to man the fair booth again, but they haven't quite yet. :) I'd like them to recognize it, too, but on the other hand sometimes you never really quite know all of the details of your life.

Thanks; I hope your day is great, too! <3
