I'm pretty sure I never expected to tear up reading meta. But I did from reading this. Your idea of looking at their relationship as a "yes, and" (and its shift away from that) is so very touching. I'm both incredibly moved by the idea and also inspired and awed (and a bit jealous, truth be told) by the depth of your thinking as a writer. I mean, I know how deeply you consider characterizations because they come through so clearly in your finished work, but reading about your background thinking and process...gives me that much more respect for what you do. You are a true gem.

Oh, me too. But in the meantime, it's really interesting to get to read posts like this, carefully worded thoughts about why I liked them so much in s3 -- because it really was the height of their "yes, and" days, the support was so clear and so obvious, even after fighting. It's an interesting way to view a relationship.
