Semi-productive

I finally got an account over at the AO3 and archived a few of my fics there (Sports Night, SG-1, Firefly, and H50)... and now the Buffy and Angel categories are looming in my journal's sidebar, mocking me. Ugh. I kind of don't want to upload any of it, except that I've written well over a hundred fics in the combined fandoms and feel like I ( Read more... )

I feel sorry for anyone who subscribed to me because I'm shoving 300 BtVS/Angel fics up as fast as I can to finish the mammoth job of putting it all on there. Like you, I don't want to in some ways, but the completist in me is looking stern ;-)

I am so uninspired. Most of my fics in those fandoms are quite a few years old now, and there are a lot of drabbles, impromptu fics, and tiny ficlets. I feel like most of it isn't worth anyone re-reading. Bleh.

I'm just aghast at the obsession I had with ellipses, lol.

ROFL. I cringe at how I tagged or didn't tag dialogue!

It's so hard to decide! Even if I disregard drabbles and little ficlets, I feel like I ought to put up the real fics.

I'm hesitant to put my BtVS/Ats stuff up because A) first bit of writing, so not as sharp as recent efforts, and B) so damned much of it! I'm currently (still) procrastinating. I will end up doing it, but I will probably put it off as long as I can.

Sounds like we're in the same boat.

I'm kind of watching this to see what other people reply. I've put up a bunch of the longer Buffy fics, but not all. I have probably close to 100 drabbles and I'm just not sure I want to move them all over there. As Jane said the completist in me wants to, but the *very busy* person over here kind of shudders at the enormity of the job. . .

I'm okay with not uploading my own drabbles, despite the archive not being complete, because I don't think many people go looking for drabbles to read... and because I have so many that they would take over my index. All of the impromptu ficlets and stuff, though, are harder for me to decide about, since I feel like - for me - the AO3 is more of a formal place than my own LJ. I feel like the fics I post ought to be more than just silly off-the-cuff things.

I am perhaps overthinking.

I will probably end up compromising -- only posting the drabbles that I really like, and leaving the rest -- the ones that are more like poetry than fic. As for impromptu fic -- for me, it's more about quality than inspiration. Some of my "give me a prompt!" fic is actually good (or at least I think it is.) Some of it, not so much. I don't know if that helps or not.

I suppose quality is my issue, too. I probably have to judge each piece individually and see what I think.

I was also considering whether I could put the drabbles into a collection or some sort of organized block on the AO3 instead of just having them intermixed with everything else; I'll have to see what kind of options the site has. Some of the drabbles I quite like, but I don't want them to overwhelm the rest of my fic.

I'm a completeist. I say post it all! I've gotten "kudos" on 6+-year-old drabbles, so somebody wants to read this stuff!
