Wow...that really sucks...I hated rubber bands. You know, I only had my braces for 11 months, though. You've had them for four and a half years?!! Wow...Well, I hope you are done soon! And that your mouth will recover from being essentially rubberbanded shut =)

My full sympathies: the worse thing is that they snap, especially when you're eating.

I recommend wearing them at night when school starts. It's a pain, but heh, it'll soon be over since you're in fine-tuning stage.
