I'm laaaame

So here I am, scribbling away in my notebook, thinking I've just about finished this danged, stupid, ridiculously long and inane chapter of SP, when it hits me. I've forgotten to write in two plot points: two full scenes, at least! Ugh, how does someone forget part of their own story? At least I remembered before I posted it and had to go back and ( Read more... )

Oh, its quite easy to forget some scenes :) it happens to me a lot - its so natural for me as writter to know about them, like it unconsciously steps back into ones mind. Hence we are not the reader who knows the scene and we label parts of story with different importance level. :P *my theory*

Much luck and joy writing the missing parts.

I suppose that's all true. I remember as a reader I always wondered how authors could mess up their timelines or write scenes that contradicted each other, but now I get it. Just like you said, the story lives in our heads for so long, and in many variations. I have to go back and re-read all the time because I forget which tangent i used in a particular instance, haha. So silly.

True enough. I could just imagine, posting a chapter after months of absence, only to have to pull it shortly thereafter because of such a gaff.

Bless your optimism ^_-

Oh man! Same thing happened to me with my entry for the "Summer of Love" contest at the KakaSaku LJ. I had forgotten to write in a major part of the end, which I had spent so much time hinting at, and I thought I was done but then I was flipping through my notes and was like "... Wait a minute..."

Good thing you caught it in time as well!

Oh goodness, it's great to know I'm not alone in this. (Great minds think alike? haha)

Glad to hear you caught it though.
