I cna't believe you get homework... like actual set homework. That seems so odd to me, I mean I have homework too but I can choose not to do it and all it is really is reading over notes and textbooks.
I remember being SO overwhelmed when I started uni... I'd done Psychology A-level, so assumed I would be fine, but there were suddenly all these statistics and confusion and SPEAKING IN DISCUSSIONS WITH 300 OTHER PEOPLE, all of whom seemed to know exactly what was going on :(
It will get easier. Honest. I know it doesn't feel like it at the moment, but it will.
Best advice I can give is make friends with at least one person on your course (possibly this Rachel - she sounds normal) so that even if you don't get it, you can not get it together. Also, wikipedia and York notes are still your friends, whether you're allowed to admit to using them or not.
And I don't mind helping, either, if you need a friend/a hand with homework... I'll help any way I can :)
You certainly aren't alone in feeling the way you are, but it really does get better.
Well, I just got back from my first meet with our Writer's Guild, who are AMAZING and it was brilliant, so I'm feeling rather better :D
I am really hoping it gets easier. *fingers crossed*
Lol, she does seem rather normal! I really hope there are some more normal people in my seminar group, and it was just nervousness or something that made us all quiet. :D Wikipedia? How can I stop using it?! Must admit though, I've never used York notes >< They cost money, damnit! (I've been lucky with my teachers at A Level I think, which does help).
Oooh :D Thanks for the offer! And the comfort, I feel much better :D *hugs back*
Oh, you can never stop using Wikipedia :P It's actually impossible.
York notes do cost money, but your local library probably has them in stock too, so you can always borrow them instead (or look up online York notes/their equivalent).
No thanks are necessary for either the offer or the comfort; they are both genuinely and freely given :)
I'm sure people will begin to open up a bit more and become more normal-seeming after a little while; nerves get the better of all of us in new situations.
