Shoji Screen

For whatever reason, most of the photos I uploaded to this computer last week are now showing as 'corrupted', so I'll have to try again!

So you'll have to wait for the story of why I was actually required to say: "I don't suppose you have any more artificial owls in storage in the back, do you?"

Well, that IS 'your' room! You'll find Kieran and Jesse are romping over the pillow mountains behind where I'm standing to shoot the picture!

I know it took two nights to glue on all the leaves; I think it took one evening to paint the leaves, two evenings to cut them all out...and a sore back from crouching over the screen when I was gluing! *laughs*

I sort of wanted to keep the screen downstairs, but I found ANOTHER shoji screen, this time with dark brown slats, that is perfect for down there--$8 at Goodwill! It wasn't all punctured and damaged like this one was, either. So, this has been shifted from where it sits, but it's normally curled around the BPAL Tower O' Doom there to the left of shot, between the doorway and the rest of the room, forming a small passage through the door and over to the dresser/light...and then you come into the room. It also affords more privacy in there. I was surprised how very PLEASANT it is to be up there, now; I spend more time in there than I ever did!

Thank you! It also disguises all the punctures and damage to the original screen! *laughs*

I was going to put more leaves on the reverse side, so that you'd see the shadow leaves (which you do when you're standing on the other side now), but I think I'm going to paint with black sumi on that. I'm thinking a few pine branches...
