I Feel Stupid [FYI for other Perfumistas]

I saw someone searching for Solstice Scents' Spellbound Woods...and since I wear Jojoelle's Spellbound Woods, I thought THAT was too close to be coincidence. I asked the ISOer what it was supposed to smell like, since SS's Etsy shop is down right now ( Read more... )

I think what makes me saddest about this is that it sounds like folks couldn't even think up original names! ;P Interesting resource, though, thanks for sharing it!

I think the Spellbound Woods thing, though, with IDENTICALLY WORDED DESCRIPTIONS that appears to come directly from the suppliers' websites is not just duping, though. Especially as most of the sellers of this 'handmade blend' are on Etsy ( ... )

After reading about mineral make-up companies, and how often the just buy pre-made colors and blend them, I'm not surprised to hear perfumers would do it as well. :(

Heya! *hugs* Nice to see you pop in! You've been on my mind while I've been reading Anne Rice's autobiography and her detailled descriptions of New Orleans!

It wouldn't even bother me so much if they bought pre-made fragrance oils and then BLENDED them to make a 'new scent'. I can SEE that as being a reasonable use of the fragrance oils, although one should STATE they're being used and that you're not as "all natural" as people might think. And even if your mineral makeup companies reblend the pre-made colours into new shades, that'd be okay by me, too.

It's just depressing that anyone can and DOES buy "Fab Scent #103" and just dilutes it and puts it up on websites as 'My' "Fab Scent #103". There's no creativity in that.

I do know there are OTHERS that buy "Fab Scent #103", dilutes it, and then calls it "My Original Blend of Fabulousness" or whatever, and that's likely MORE vile. Be honest. Tell us what it IS. Don't pretend it's something other than "Fab Scent #103"-as-purchased-from-a-bulk-oils-supplier.
