I don't know if they're just regional or if they're across the States, but when they say they make "steakburgers", they're not kidding. They use better cuts of meat for the hamburgers and they still make everything like it's the Fifties. Think "Johnny Rockets" but NOT a retro-remake--Steak 'N' Shake is the real deal.
The milkshakes are still made with milk and ice cream and in the case of the one I was ranting about, white chocolate. The fries are thin, shoestring potatoes. Heck, they still serve things like cottage cheese and baked beans really baked in BEAN POTS.
They've updated their look a bit, but they're still very much like they were ever since I can remember. I try to drag all my friends there at least once. And hey--they're open 24 hours a day! *laughs*
