Went to see MJ, had sushi, and watched RotK. We commented cheerfully through the first half and then sniffled through the second half, and geeked out on LotR trivia afterwards, which is always fun. And hobbits, sigh. Frodo and Sam break my heart every time, but Merry and Pippin have the most romantic moment in the entire trilogy. I knew you'd find ( Read more... )

I did realize that the argument about how maybe people would like late-seasons Buffy better if she were a good-looking, moderately angsty guy trying to do the right thing doesn't hold up at all, because if she were, she'd be Duncan MacLeod, who loses pretty much the same popularity contests. Though it's fun to imagine them wearing each other's clothes.

Thanks for that! I really did need to scrub my monitor screen *g*. This should be a challenge -- dress two favorite characters in each other's clothes! Heh.

Heroes need their snarky cynical buddies to knock the shine off their haloes; and the snarky ones need their odd and possibly inexplicable soft spot for the hero, otherwise they'd likely just be creeps. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

The visual of Gandalf dressed up as JC Chasez is going to keep me entertained for days.

In the taxi on the way home I had to listen to things like The Rose, which is a song that annoys me in many ways, not least horticulturally.

Hee! My favorite LJ quote of the day, on a day that included a brief fantasy about feeding Spike to the goats.

1. So sigging this.
2. YOU FREAK.
3. I don't think her clothes would fit him.

The real problem with having this sort of discussion is that there's always a polarization with the other person's best-beloved character and sometimes I end up with a vague dislike of Methos or Spike or whoever, which is wrong...

Oh. It's wrong? Are you sure? I'm not sure it is. At least with Spike. cough. Really, I never had a problem with the vague dislike of Methos, or Lex, and my Spike issues stemmed from elsewhere, and just were exacerbated by Spikers. I'm trying to train myself to a vague dislike of the fans ( ... )

Mmm, Lindsey.

I'm very fond of the ambiguous guys. (AmbiGuys?) You know, on my own terms. and I could really go for Duncan in one of those tight tops...

The Heroes and the AmbiGuys!!! WHEEEEE!!! I am fond of them, too. Most of them. In conjunction with the Heroes, mostly. *g*

He is wonderful. (And Agent Elrond agrees.)

I love Gandalf fighting with his sword and staff. Somehow, weirdly, he reminds me of Saitoh; he's got a sort of aku soku zan vibe going.

*DIES*

I hate you. I hate you for making me think of inappropriate crossovers, especially since I know that I'm horribly unlikely to ever get any of them out of you.

If I burst into random fits of insane giggles today, it'll be because I'm imagining Saitoh's reaction to hobbits.

Though it's fun to imagine them wearing each other's clothes.

I can see Buffy in Duncan's, but Duncan in Buffy's shoes... ok, it has a certain hilarity factor.

I mean, I am the person who'll usually like Methos or Spike (although not Draco *g*), and it's very difficult to like a character, when the most rabid fans are so utterly ( ... )

Oh, dear. Saitoh would explode. Implode. Something.

No, I'm not caught up, Smile Time was an exception - tzikeh was dubbing it for someone when I was in Chicago, and I caught sight of puppet Angel and the resulting explosion of laughter could be heard in Canada. But I've got those seas 4 DVDs now, so catching up will happen. :)
