trees and television

I ended up with a grand total of three trees during the lj tree-planting extravaganza. Three trees! (Try saying that ten times fast.) I felt like a forestry tycoon. The trees are gone from my profile now, but they still grown in my heart! ...or not, because that sounds uncomfortable. But thank you so much, again, anonymous tree-planting people. ( Read more... )

I had pretty much the same experience with Supernatural, except instead of an IM friend I coopted my housemate *g*

And then I came online and asked the same question and was immediately directed to the best rec page EVER.

I warn you though, it's a slippery slope. I started out with the fluffy and harmless and finished up reading deathfics and worse. It's just the fandom for it. *boggles*

*grins* Yes, but am I just the fan for it? I kind of adore the OTT emotional drama of the show, but when I think fiction, for some reason, I think comedy. Or at least as funny as the show itself, which I think is pretty funny a lot of the time. Killa's rec page seems to be the place to start, by general consensus, clearly. ;) Thanks!

There's a lot of good funny crack in this fandom, mixed in with the angst. I wholeheartedly recommend two wingfic series:

Turn of the Wheel series by eighth horizon (gen shading to slash)

and

Forgetting to Fall
Learning to Fly
The Air in Between all by kellifer_fic (gen)

and also try astolat's stories, in particular Under Hill and Binding. (slash)

and one last awesome, funny, cracktastic (but not really) nonexplicit slash story: Seventy-Six Trombones Played Gloria Gayner by teand.

Hope these suit. :-)

Hee, that is a lot of reccing, you're right. And I'm so glad you loved In The Company of Demons, too! She's amazing.

Thank you! You are clearly the go-to person for recs, here. :) I'll start here and move on to the rest of your page, I suspect!

trollprincess does a lot of SPN comedy and is generally terrific. Also, holli's Accidents Will Happen, in which four Goth teenagers accidentally resurrect John Winchester, should not be missed.

Third, "Accidents Will Happen". It makes me laugh every time.

I recently hunted down some lighter SPN fic in preparation for some cheering up needed after the likely angst filled season end, so here:

Real Men Don't Eat Cheesecake: http://trollprincess.livejournal.com/1086261.html

Life is a Banquet (and Some Poor Suckers are Starving to Death): http://meadowmines.livejournal.com/63199.html

The Idea of an Island: http://eighth-horizon.livejournal.com/42794.html

I know there's more out there, but I don't have the links right now. Have fun!
