GO: Slouching, forever

Jul 10, 2006 21:08

Snippet #4, for daegaer, whose second request was Good Omens, international jewel thieves. I'm sorry I couldn't manage the WK. Not quite 900 words. Much gratitude to aka_arduinna, bravecows, and marycrawford, in alphabetical order. ;)

Summary: Lower Tadfield doesn't change much.

Slouching, forever )

Oh, that's so sad, and kind of creepy...

Oh, that's - um, really sad, actually. Poor Them.

Yes, I feel awful for them, I mean Them. Thank you for the fb!

*shudders*

I always thought that last line was incredibly creepy, and you capture that perfectly.

Also? I love Crowley's dispute with the hawthorn. :-)

Thank you! :)

I was rereading the book, pondering what to write for daegaer, and the ending just leaped out at me and said, as you point out, hello I am creepy! Which was kind of irresistible. *g*

Ack! I didn't notice where you were going with this until the very end, and then I had to go back and reread. "Oh, dear," indeed!

Crowley and Aziraphale's interactions are wonderful in this. ♥

Eeeeeeeeeeeeee! Thank you! Oh, this is marvellous - funny and sadly creepy at the same time. (And made even worse by the fact that Adam is presumably immortal, both in the angelic sense and in the eleven-year-old-heedless sense).

And I love the little details, like Aziraphale's appearance of an unfortunate accident and the fight over Crowley's trousers.

The field was empty. Crowley took two steps and put his foot down on evidence that the field hadn't been empty for very long.

Hee hee! Poor Crowley. *sniggers*

I love this, thank you so much!

*relieved sigh* Thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it -- I know I played a bit fast and loose with the prompt, but the story where a grown-up adrenaline-junkie Pepper was having a torrid diamond-stealing affair with Amanda from Highlander just refused to write itself.

the fact that Adam is presumably immortal

That's what I found so disturbing about the ending of GO when I looked at it properly, and what made this story come out the way it did. That "for ever" looked so extremely ominous.

Thank you for the prompt and the inspiration!

For them never to grow up would be creepy too, I think. Their parents would get old and die, the world around them would change... Thank you for the comment! And I'm really sorry about the late answer. I found some stuff today I'd put aside to reply to later. Memo to self: never do that again.
