muse vs. conscience

Do any of you ever feel the need to write something you don't particularly think you should write about? It's like, there's a character doing actions or having attitudes you don't have yourself, and on one hand, it's good writing to let them speak for themselves and not force them into your own biases. I have a long-ass WIP with that exact situation - it's Widmore-centric, and gives his justification for Alex's death, and there's a scene with young Ben that I can see some people not being happy about. It's not that I'm saying I personally agree that Widmore should have told Keamy to sacrifice Alex, but more that I know what his motivation may have been - resentment of Ben for still being able to raise her while Daniel was sacrificed (it sounds better in the actual fic!)

I think I'll finish it and post it, just accept that people may not like it!
